Passing Down Watches To The Next Generation - What About Daughters?
I often hear collectors talk about the watches they are passing to their sons. But I hardly hear about passing watches to daughters. Women are wearing larger watches more now than ever (daytonas, gmts, etc.) and I'd imagine this will continue in the future.
I have two daughters and plan on passing on my watches to them (assuming they will wear them of course). Whenever we get these I think they would be great candidates. -116518 Newman dial -My wife's Candy Pink OP If they want to wear my blnr, sub, or 39mm exp1 I think those are great watches to pass down as well. Which watch are you planning to pass down to your daughter(s)? If you already gave your daughter your watch I'd love to hear about it too. *Just thought I change up the conversation here a bit from the usual incoming, my AD said this, should i buy this watch, is this an investment, etc. etc.*

When I die all my belongings are to be placed in a cornucopia a la Hunger Games and my family can fight for the spoils.
My son is stronger than my daughter but she is faster... |

My jewelry goes to son
Wife’s jewelry goes to daughter. Or they can just combine it and sell it all off. |

My daughter will get my future datejust 41 fluted/jubilee with silver dial and batons. Classic forever and is not “too masculine”. We only have 1 daughter, if we have a son, he will get my black date sub.

I'd absolutely pass them down to my daughters and my sons. And those watches are beautiful. A lot of women wear Daytonas and GMTs and anything else Rolex.

My BLNR and Sub will go to my two daughters. If they don't want them, I told them to pass it down to their firsts, hopefully grandsons

Passing Down Watches To The Next Generation - What About Daughters?
Not sure I understand your comment. I don’t know who will get what and I’ll most likely let them chose. These are just examples of what I will be passed down.

You pass on your 40mm watches it may be likely it goes to her bf or hubby and not to her.
I would love to pass on a 36mm explorer or a 36mm fancy colored op like the pink one your wife has. Problem is getting one these days without feeling like the AD did you a huge favor. |

At a minimum my Daughters watch is my 16014 Datejust …. I could see her getting whatever else I have at that time as well. I have three grown sons and two of them don’t wear a watch. My oldest son is in law enforcement and only wants to wear a G shock or something along those lines. My daughter is always talking about and admiring my watches and requested an Apple Watch for Christmas, so I’d rather leave mine to someone who I think will appreciate them. But who knows, peoples likes change over time.

I have a daughter on the way (due next April) and my AD was gracious enough to allocate a BLNR to me to celebrate the occasion. It may very well get passed down to her, or any of my other very special timepieces. I'll gauge her taste in decide when the time comes!

I chose an OP39 for our first daughter and a Cartier for our second (she’s 12 days old now) I was wearing each when they were born
Had the OP engraved, the Cartier will be soon |

i gave my Panerai logo base to my daughter 3 years ago. This fall, I gave her my 16600. She loves and wears them both! The 16600 really looks much better on her than it ever did on me! I'm so glad I was able to pass on my passion for watches to her.

I can't imagine leaving my watches to my daughters, then marrying and giving them to their future ex husbands!
I am not sentimental but they can have some if they really want..they are adults and know that I don't like placing too much value on stuff like this.. I might leave a particular watch to a friend or relative to remember me by but not to my children..unless they really want one, which I don't see. (texting this to them now. hahaha) ---- Got a text back from one of them: "i hate this conversation!!!!!"

This is part of the reason why I'm into watches. I've had multiple girl friends through the years who have attachments to their father's watch.
I will engrave my watches before passing down and will only pass down one per kid. Daughter will likely receive my daytona. It's slightly smaller so won't look oversized, and it's a heavier hitter with the watch crowd. Son will likely receive my GMT. But who knows... some other watches might come along that I feel suit them better. Quote:

Does one of your daughter have an interest in your watches? If not maybe you will share this passion to the next generation. If these items are important as a sign of legacy you can make it clear it has to remain in your direct lineal descendance.
