Rose gold watch for my 50

Hello everyone,

For my first post on a forum, I would like to be able to confront my case with the very enlightened opinion, or little, of the participants.

The fifties are fast approaching, I want to mark the occasion and end my modest collection with the missing link, both by need and desire, of a beautiful rose gold watch with date indication. A brand new one.

I had set my sights on two superb ones that I tried in store: rolex cellini date 50515 and rolex cellini moonphase. On test, each of the two watches looks really small on my 8-inch wrist.

Since then, two models have caught my attention, each with a little reserve: - laureato chrono girard perregaux rose gold blue dial and blue strap: how reliable is the brand that I have not experienced? - rolex daytona rose gold black background 116505: is this type of daytona available under 12/24 months? Either way, the watch will go under my shirt cuff.

Thank you for your reading, even your advice

The big 50 constitutes a DayDate40 my man.

Just get the big daddy of them all and get a Rose Gold DD40 either Chocolate dial or Olive if you can get either at MSRP.

If not get the white/sundust stripe motif and be done with it and just pay the premium on them. The premium wont be as high as the chocolate or the olive.

GMT Master 2 full PM or Daytona Sundust + Diamonds would be me choice!

The Daytona is a great watch; definitely worthy of a 50th. Also consider a YachtMaster 116655 and the Daytona 116515 (both on oysterflex bracelets). I personally really love Daytonas.

The Daytona won’t look much bigger than the Cellini!
Rose gold sky dweller for your 50th as you have an 8 inch wrist.
Platinum DD40 for your 60th, sorted!

On the GP, fantastic watch and great brand. Quality is up there with the best so in terms of reliability of the watch, you should have no troubles.
They are a very underrated watch manufacturer. On a par with Blancpain imo in terms of craftsmanship. They make some seriously complicated pieces in house. Very few can do what they do.

I would go with Day-Date or PM Daytona. All of them look very good, if you aren't particularly with certain combinations, it will be easier to get.

12-24 months it seems possible but it depends on your luck too.

This is the perfect occasion for a day date. Some fantastic combos like the chocolate dial and even the sun dust if they still do it

Equally the Daytona choc dial is stunning

Consider a RG Day Date or full RG GMT CHNR.

i would suggest the RG daytona, or the RG daydate which is a bit less expensive.

I agree w the rose gold sky dweller for your large wrist, or a day date.

I agree a Daytona won’t feel large enough on your wrist.

I’d recommend some other larger rose gold options but suspect they’re too sporty, like a ROO.

I second the call for the Sky Dweller. I also have an 8" wrist. I tried on the Day Date and at least to me, felt that it looked a little small on me.

I then tried on the Sky Dweller and think it looks perfect.

Good luck!

Another vote for SkyD. My 326935 is on my wrist today and pretty much every day. Also trying to land a RG piece but a Daytona. Thought about a DayDate but already having a fluted bezel on my SkyD I feel it might be a tad redundant for what I'm trying to accomplish.

But we are all on our separate journey so get what you like. That is all that matters. Good luck

Thank you gents for all your comments. Very much appreciated !!
I have to mention that I own already SkyD blue dial, which is perfect on my wrist by the way. Then I would go neither for RG SkyD nor RG daydate.

Daytona RG black dial is the first option but I need to check availability.

Ok. We are here for you however when the realisation hits you that the Daytona wears as small as the Cellini!
Great watch however, I own a WG version myself.

I would go full gold DD or gmt master 2. The daytona might look a bit small on your wrist

Thanks for being straightforward Doric. Would it be possible that both Cellini looked small to me because at that time my daily watch was a pretty big portugieser (42 mm if I am not wrong) ? My daily wearer now is the SkyD which feels smaller on the wrist (even though also 42mm).
Maybe I should make another try of the Cellini which are my first choices according to my taste.
Did you gents already experienced this type of situation about the size ?

What you have been wearing will affect your thinking. I would say a Portuguese will wear slightly larger than a SkyD.
It can also be about how you feel on the day you try it on. One day I will try a 36mm DD and it looks great, next week I think it looks to small for me.
You should definitely try the Cellini again, bonus is they are in the cases so you can try. Also wear a small watch when you go or no watch at all. See how you feel. I am thinking the Cellini may be your partner. A friend of mine has one, in rose gold actually. looks great on his 7.5 inch wrist.

Different brand but how about a full rose gold Omega Speedmaster. Those are insane. Photos creatively borrowed2021-Omega-Speedmaster-Moonwatch-Profressional-Co-Axial-Master-Chronometer-Sedna-Gold-310.60.42..jpg

Nice! Looks like a Daytona on a presidential bracelet. I was lucky and bought my RG DD40 sundust right before prices went crazy. If I was in the market now, probably would get PM in another brand.
