How does the original GMT actually tell the 2nd time
Ok.. So I get how the GMT II works... you quick set the 24hr arrow hand on the old time zone and it tracks that.. now worries about that and lots of videos how to etc...
But what about the Original GMT> I still don't get how it works.. So does that GMT hand always track the same distance from the hour hand and you set the bezel against that? Is that how you use it?... I don't get it!!! LOLZ videos explaining anyone? thanks! |

You move the bezel. The GMT hand is locked to the hour hand.

This.
I don't think I've ever actually used the GMT function on my 1675, what with iPhones and all. It looks unbalanced if the insert triangle isn't at the top. |

Here is how I set my GMT Master when I was flying in Alaska.
Bezel set to GMT time and local flying time on the dial. GMT AlaskaBezel.jpg

those with GMT I models, does the non-ratcheting bezel slide around much? On my 2005 DJ ToG (no longer own), it would occasionally slide when touching my shirt cuff, putting on / taking off jackets, etc...

non-clicking bezels are press-to-turn locks. If it moves around easily, the friction spring is either shot or missing.

ok... but when you say locked.....the angle between each hand can't stay constant right?... I mean the bezel is a 24 hr track right around where as the dial is a 12 hr track over the 360 degrees....
i know i might seem daft but it's my dislexia or something!.... it just doesn't seem intuitive .... that GMT hand must move slower than the hr hand..... ...come to think of it with it moving slower and that 24 hr bezel/12 hr dial thing how can a GMT II track 3 zones if that hr hand is quickset on the 2nd time ( after that the angle would be locked to the hour hand - as in the angle between the two not change.... right?)... got what I'm saying? lolz!! Anyone made a youtube on these particular movement's ? comparing one with another.... with time lapse or something... |

He means synchronized. So, at 12:00AM on tbe beginging of the day, both hands are at the top. At noon when the hour hand has swung all the way back to 12 o'clock position, the GMT hand is at the bottom, where the bezel reads 12.

You read the second (and third) time zones off the bezel right? If you then move the Bezel to set that 3rd time zone doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of eyeballing a quick and easy 2nd time zone? |

The GMT II does not show 3 zones simultaneously.
