Omega Speedmaster Apollo 11 50Th Ann. versions (gold&steel) completly sold out

I started researching the situation with the Omega Speedmaster Apollo 11 50th Ann. -versions (gold, ref. 310.60.42.50.99.001 and steel, ref. 310.20.42.50.01.001).
In different continents it is all the same situation: Completely sold out.
I am actually a little bit surprised that also the full gold version is completely sold out! Some more limited versions (around 250 pieces) like Omega Speedmaster Apollo 17 full gold version 45th Ann. can still be found from Omega AD’s.
Those of you who got Apollo 11 version (steel or gold) from AD: you are very lucky!!!

Feeling VERY lucky with steel and gold. Having a wonderful relationship with my authorized dealer makes all the difference. Nick really know what I love and will alert me to something he feels I would enjoy. Hat tip to Nick at Mayors in Tampa.

Very cool watches. I believe many were purchased on speculation and the buyers may be right on these two models.

Truly cool watches!!
Based on how few there are on sale at the moment, I would say that the watches were bought by true collectors. Not speculators/flippers.

I passed on this one but I'm so glad to see that prices on these are holding steady. I hope they continue to do well in the secondary market.

I think that these two LE Speedmasters are the most important Omega references. Moonlanding, the moment when Speedmaster became iconic Moonwatch, the 50th Anniversary—can be celebrated like this only once.

Absolutely. It just didn’t do anything for me when I put it on my wrist. I struggled with it but in the end I decided against the emotional purchase. I’m happy for everyone that got one though!

Yeah—one should never buy this expensive items just because of the hype. Plenty of Omega LE:s out there.
The watch should truly sing to you! I’ve fallen too many times into this hype trap, especially with Rolexes... FOMO...
If we are thinking critically: I get the feeling that Omega is thinking too much only Money with these mass produced Swatch Group watches...
But the Speedmaster is truly an icon!

One of my watch friends was thinking of getting the SS and he is a big-time collector, though he said he mainly would have set it aside to remain mint. He never got one, sadly, yet admires mine quite a bit. Mine is a daily beater do to an easy-to-read dial in various lighting conditions and incredibly comfortable bracelet.

Seems there are few still trickling in or ???? because one member here was able to find one through a TRF friend's dealer in America. He asked me if i could hook him up with one a few weeks back, yet my AD seems to be sold out.

Yeah, that’s what I struggled with. I was thinking that this is an icon celebrating history so I could always sell it without losing too much. But I truly buy watches to wear so it didn’t make sense to buy it unless I love it. The deciding factor for me was I told myself to get this one or the Aqua Terra World Timer and I went with the AT.

Great to hear your experiences—please share some pics!!! That’s good to know that the steel version is easy to read! Big problem with the chronos is the legibility. For example Daytona is impossible for my older eyes.
Here in Europe there are many still waiting to get their watch, some have been waiting since the release (spring 2019). I am also on a list and should be getting the steel version (yeah: steel&gold!). Even though it is sold out, not all are delivered and many people may change their mind when getting the call (or not having the money).

I saw it during a truck show. It looks pretty cool.

I was told that I would receive it in December and now being told January. Not looking too hopeful but I can wait.

Have the same old eyes thing, coding for the past 40 years can do that. Agree black dial 'tona is a challenge, white dial version is fine.

Here's a link when i first got the OMEGA ss 50th

Steel is easier—full gold impossible to get anymore (USA, Europe, Asia...).
