I hear that there are new style warranty cards now in the US. Anyone can confirm this?

There are some pics on WUS already and even IG. It’s just a card, nothing fancy ... personally, I prefer my name on the card for when I pass it down to my kids.

It’s smarter than it looks. The rings around the crown are a digital fingerprint that can be traced back to the original purchase.

Not my picture. It is from google. But you can see what will happen early on. People will blur the serial number but leave the crown rings totally readable to people with the keys.

The bonus for ADs is that they eliminate the “several” calls per week to authenticate gray market purchases that originated with them.

Customers like us cannot see where a watch was purchased making the gray market less attractive.

Can you explain this? Do the crown rings store info, sort of like a QR code? Thanks

Correct. Custom QR code. There are several different line styles making the cards unique. Bold, dashed, dots, etc. I thought this was surprisingly high tech and was surprised it was not more discussed. 99% wont know or care but they may inadvertently out themselves as flippers if they post for sale pictures that include the card.

Yeah I'd like to get more info too. When did these start to come out? Is there a specific month and is it available globally? Will these be given to all models or only specific ones until a more global rollout happens?

I don’t think they are replacing existing cards but new shipments should now include the new cards. It may take a long while to work through existing cards already paired to watches.

Anything that will hurt the grey market and flippers is fine with me, although it remains to be seen if it will have much effect

Been debating this with the owner of my AD. I've concluded it will affect certain types of buyers.

1) Some portion of Gray market buyers immediately call the original AD to "verify" the watch was sold there. I have heard of at least 2 that learned the watch was sold years earlier than what was on the card. These buyers may be turned off by losing this safety net.

2) Other buyers insist on the watch being from their home country or a specific country. You will also lose the ability to see this on used watches.

On the flip side, if someone was not flipping because they didn't want a warranty card with their name on it floating around, that concern goes away somewhat. Also, some buyers only buy from an AD for the perk of having their name on the card. That is now gone as well.

It would be a lot of fun if Rolex released an App to let you decode the fingerprint, but I think the odds of that happening are 0. They are trying to reduce the information that is shared, not increase it.

Ya, I’m with you. Got my grail (Batman) last Friday and was disappointed to not be able to put my name on it. My son has my name too so it would even look like it was his all along.

So what's that big white rectangular area for? I thought that's where you'd sign it?

I just bought mine last week, it was the same type of card as before, but it left the purchaser 's name blank.

Man RUSA is going to use that new QR type encoding to nail so many ADs. Everyone who innocently puts a picture of the card on eBay is going to cause headaches for a few retailers.

Picked up a 116610LN on June 24 here in US from AD with the old style card with name and date and retailer all printed on rather than handwritten.

Who cares where the watch was originally purchased? As long as it is genuine, it is a moot point.
