Hi everyone. I hope you can help me out. I'm thinking of getting a Pan in the future but their models are all pretty confusing to me right now. I'm only planning on getting one Pan. Is there a classic Pan like the Rolex Submariner? I would give that the most consideration.

You can't go wrong with one of the following for your first. 000, 005, 104, 111, 112, 177.

If money is not an issue, you could go all out and just choose a 127 or 217.

Depends on price. If I had to pick 1 no brainer 233.

The classic modern PAM would be a Luminor manual wind.Of those my choice would be a 111

In auto you can have a look at the 104 and new 312 .Also the 88 if you like the look.

8 day manual ,the 233

In Rosegold...the 231

... great advise, i be getting my first PAM hopefully within this year.
i am totally new to Panerai watches.

If Rolex Submariner is the most favourite Rolex, then PAM 24 might be the most un-favourite Panerai. Still can not understand why...............

Classical “purist” would be a base 111/112 Luminor 183 Radiomir, most likely, what are you looking for I would check out all what is avail and see what smiles at you, there is indeed quite a line up , from base to Subs , Luminor to Radimir complications/base. From fair priced/ to highly expensive.
Take your time look around and see what appeals to you.

I think the famous Panerai is Luminor model, and 111, 112, 000 or 005 is the FAMOUS PAMs. Good luck whatever you choose!!!

For a purists, it has to be Manual.

For a super purists, it has to be pre vendome.

More importantly, I'd just buy one you like. Forget the rest, you are the one that counts.

I am not aware that the 024 is the least favorite PAM out there. I love it -of course, it's the only one I own (twice!) so I might be a little biased. I think it's a striking watch - pics of my first one.

At first, I was not a Sub fan. I even said on this forum that it wasn't for me. Now I really like them. I think they are striking - and classic in that other watches - just don't look like them.

I think the 24 is outstanding... Looks great on different straps especially old beat up ammos...

--- Wanted to add. The 305 Sub is super cool too. I love it because it has the flat crystal no cyclops - reminds me of the Sea Dweller that I love so much...

Thanks for the advice everyone. A couple of quick thoughts:

It seems like the 233 is an awesome watch with a huge power reserve. However, the thought of winding it 250x's every week seems daunting.

How many winds does the 111 require? This would be done every three days or so, right?

I'm wondering of the 104 is the way to go since I've used an automatic watch for years.

Thoughts?

For 111 winds around 60-70 times.
The power reserve is around 60 hours.

Trust me... You will love winding the 233... I had my reservations at first too.. But now I just can't wait to wind the 233... It's a very enriching experience.. It bonds you closer to your watch

233 is my future watch, I think I will grab it someday. But for now I wanna focus to Historic models first and then 312.

312 is cool.... Again nothing to pick at, all the elements of a good pam, just one small thing... cannot reset the seconds to zero. Other than that, perfect!
