Patek AD "pruning" happens regularly every year. I am interested in hearing the reason why an AD was cut, although it is almost impossible to know the real reason.

Actually that's a Mayors store (sister company or some such). Forget about any list or getting anything you request from Mayors as they have too many customers now to bother with anyone new who only buys a few watches it seems.

As a wholesaler to ADs, perhaps it is possible that PP are receiving pushback from ADs (i.e. their clients) on their stock levels for demanded pieces and the relative impact on their revenues. It was not long ago that it was mentioned that PP were asking ADs to invest in their in-store displays also.

As long as the AD isn’t going out of business, you should be fine and get your deposit back.

50 Patek ADs cut!

Maybe a better way of stating the dealer churn is that some declined renewing their contracts, some were not renewed at PP’s discretion, and others were cutoff for some cause.

If 50 are/were removed - does anyone know the number of new additions in 2018? The net-net may still be fewer ADs - but nothing like the 10+% drop that the headline suggested.

I've never heard of Patek AD's taking a deposit, is this common?

Looks like they are reorganising a bit... many models discontinued and now cutting AD's?
Could be a good thing, actually....

That AD was taking deposits to ensure seriousness from both sides. They are really good people. I was happy customer. Now I am patek AD-less. So disappointed. Now need to start new AD relationship.

So I heard good and bad news from both sides.
BAD - The AD that were dropped had only one call on Tuesday morning with no explanation, just a decision made in Geneva.
GOOD - They dropped supposedly 12.5% of AD, and current AD will get more allocations.

I think asking for a deposit depends on the AD

David M Robinson used to take deposits and Boodles some times request deposits from new clients.

I think this is it, I have a 35 year relationship with the AD for my 5711 with zero deposit but the same AD asked my pal for a deposit on an aquanaut but he’s never bought from them previously and he thought it was a reasonable request.

Only one for a large area - thats how - except in some of the bigger cities - there is like 1 AD per state - for Patek having a presence in every US state with 1 AD makes sense as there is at least 1 AD's worth of people in every state likely to buy Pateks.

Good move. The best brands cull their channel periodically.

Patek is creating more exclusivity and feasting from the FOMO it generates....

The Patek website lists 422 ADs and I can recall they had 438 ADs so only 16 were dropped?

My AD was cut. I was on the waitlist for both 5712 and 5167 and supposed to receive them in second half of this year. Really disappointed. In today's market, no other AD will be willing to work with me unless I purchase an annual calendar or a worldtime first. To say I am beyond devastated will be putting it lightly.

No, they added so many last year so the overall list had 50 AD dropped, so they must have added 34 new ones last year.

At least we have our health and other pieces to enjoy. I'm a little sad, but I wouldn't say "devastated". Life goes on without another Nautilus in the collection.

This would be much more difficult for Patek. They have way more points of sale than AP ever had. Not even close.

Happens in the US. I did it with a well known Patek AD a few years ago.
