Yes both keepers for me but not clear cut that one is preferable over the other.

Seiko alpinist SARB017? What do you guys think...

I can honestly say that seiko was not on my radar until I saw the blue one. I decided to give it a try and of course, I became an instant fan of the alpinist. I love the size and feel. I am now thinking I may pick up the green one as well. I also added the ginault bracelet and man, it feels great.

I think it looks great in green and I am tempted to buy one as well.

Just received my Alpine yesterday. Bought it off ebay from a US shipper for $485. Boy is that band it comes with terrible! Luckily, I had a new Strapcode Oyster(style) bracelet from Amazon waiting for it. I was a bit surprised by how reflective the green dial is. I have to shorten the bracelet tonight to fit my 7.5" wrist, that bracelet looked like it was long enough for an 8"+ wrist. Then I'll live with the watch for a while before making a keep/sell decision.

So true!

Enjoy it. I too bought mine off an eBay seller when there was a 15% coupon code. I have it on a Miltat jubilee and like slapping it on on the weekends.

Great watch, still have it. The seiko sarb series is what got me into automatic watches a couple of years ago. The original green Alpinist is fantastic value for money, lots of watch for the money.

The few remaining brand new SARB017’s are a bargain.I tried to persevere with the supplied croc strap but it’s not very supple and doesn’t quite make the watch sit right on my wrist so I’ve changed it now for one from the Sydney Strap Co which is similar to the one on my SPB089-I think it suits the watch better.

I’ve had my Sarb017 for a few years now and it’s a great piece. I am kind of annoyed about the blue being released as an LE. Then, all the spec buyers/sneaker flippers bought in and not there was nada left for enthusiasts. Seiko should have or should release them annually or biennially in different color dials. It is a great size piece to feel really solid and beyond its pricepoint.

I had the same thought on the blue and then realized I can buy the green with no remorse and did so at $478 to me, its a steal for the movement and the beauty and finish of this watch and as you can already see most all straps give it a new direction its full of character

On a super jubilee , this watch looks great on just about any strap or bracelet . The only one that doesn't look good on it ,is the one it's supplied with take that Seiko .

Having now wore the SARB017 and the SPB089 over the last month or so,I feel that the SARB017 is the more special looking watch-it’s edging out the blue one.Obviously the blue is the limited edition but all things being equal I prefer wearing the green, but with a similar style strap to the blue.

I love the free sarb017 and was wondering where the best place to get it is. It's sort of confusing because it's available on Amazon for 475$ but all of them on chrono24 at selling at around 550...

What is that brown leather Strap?
I just got the Blue Alpinist and when it comes in . . i would like to have it on the brown instead of the black leather strap.
