Size difference white gold and engine turned 36mm bezels?
Hi, so recently I opened a thread about wanting a different bezel on my 16030. I ordered one, and when it got in it was 36mm, but the edge of the white gold bezel appears to be smaller. 4mm or so on the engine turned one, 3mm on the white gold one.
Is this correct? If I change them out now I can’t return it, so testing to see how it looks is not an option (bezel was not cheap) so I am hoping you can inform me on sizes. |

3mm is for a plastic 4 digit ref. It will fit your plastic 16030 as well, I don't know if the 16030 is bigger but judging from what you just said about your current one it probably is.

from what i recall despite the differences they both will work to lock down an acrylic DJ crystal. a few of us have installed acrylic on sapphire DJ over the years.

oh yea you are right on that. we have some guys here locally that attempt to install aftermarket sapphire crystals on 16xx series DJ models and they always end up goofy looking as they must elevate the crystal to clear the hands in those acrylic cases and trim the plastic gasket so the bezel will lock things down. not a good setup.

So I am still unsure what to do. It is still not clear to me wether a 16234 whitegold bezel is indeed smaller than the 16030 engine turned one. I cannot find this anywhere on the net unfortunately so I've made some pictures in hopes to clarify things.
The size of the 18kt gold one I have is 2mm, see picture below. It is smaller than my 16030's which would be about 3mm if measured in the same way. Here is the pic for the whitegold bezel: If I put this on my 16030, will it not leave big gaps, or is this supposed to be and if so is this also the case on other references? Hope to hear from you guys :) |

Ok, final update: The new bezel fits, but it makes for a much higher dome so to say. Looks fine from the front, but a sideways view will show it is not as it's supposed to be.
