For salon gift, was it from a visit or you need to buy something? I am planning to visit Geneva next year :)

Good luck regarding any gifts! I have been at the Geneva Salon last week on a scouting trip to help me decide what to ask for at my AD. Great experience as I could try on what I wanted and I have also been treated to a tour of the Rhone building. Except for marketing materials which I didn't take along there were no gifts, but why should there be any gifts for a foreign visitor not buying anything there?

Generally a gift - if any - would be given from your AD after you've become a good customer.

Also, IMO it's not a gift if you are asking for it.

No wish to regurgitate, we will simply agree to disagree over the allegations and who they were against. Both are a loss to the forum, ‘K’ especially.

Back to the OP question, received a lovely travel bag recently.

What gift you are getting along with your new pp?

I got a wallet, gloves, hat, and a book from the shelf at the AD. Also, I got a free meal at the restaurant down the street, a nice cappuccino and some Lindt truffles.

Also a 5164a.

That Brian guy's last post was in 3 July 2017. You joined the forum in February 2019. How do you know what happened in 2017? How do you know he was posting PMs?. I can't see a single PM posted by that Brian guy. I get the feeling you are one of those banned members using a different username

I've never gotten any gifts.

All I want as a gift is the ability to buy (at MSRP) yet another ultra-hard to get SS sport model.

I got a couple of gifts from the Salon when I visited last year, and I didn't buy anything. I was stunned at how generous they were to me and my friend after we wasted 2 hours of their time. Don't expect anything, but anything is a bonus for sure.

Over here, many AD now just gives travel case as standard. My AD still gives me tie to go along with the travel case but he said that is no longer default.

So for other interesting items like travel bags, caps, loupe, etc... do you actually have to buy more complicated/ high price items to get those? Just curious...

Indeed! It was mind blowing getting to hold and listen to the Grandmaster Chime and other minute repeaters.

I wrote about my experience below:

Enjoy!

Magic!
I loved just collecting mine down the road from home, let alone in a Geneva :)

I was given an opportunity to buy a 5711 blue 3 weeks after picking up my 5170P.

Does that count as a gift?
