Aquanat see-through case back question
Whats everyones thoughts about the see-through case back on the aquanat? The AD tells me its synthetic sapphire crystal and its very durable but he also wants to take my money, so i need some neutral opinions and thoughts.
Is the see through case back very water resistant and durable? i know its an aquanat but still, a see through case back seems kind of sketchy to me as far as comparing it to any other case back for instance a rolex. |

I’ve gone swimming with many watches like this including a few aquanauts. You’ve nothing to worry about unless you plan on doing some saturation diving. Which one are you thinking of getting?

Think of it as being the same as the see-through sapphire crystal on the front.

Only bezel marks are an issue, internally the watch will be fine. If you don't mind marks then go for the 67R, or have it polished annually for 300 bucks every year or so.

If you want a true sports watch because you're very active as i am, you know Rolex is far more durable and built to last. Patek makes watches that look sporty. Maybe the Naut is more durable due to heftier casing, yet am sure you know Rolex is excellent. Warranty: 2 years Patek, 5 years Rolex. Service Times: Rolex is about 5 weeks, Patek about 5 months. You decide.

5167, for sure. The sapphire case back and the rest of the watch is plenty durable.

I love mine ! Buy this one and you will throw stones at your Rolex! I have several Rolex’s but after getting my 1st PP , they get virtually no wrist time.I do wear my sub on occasion to work on my boat-but that seems to be extent of Rolex wear for me. Get the 67R - you won’t be disappointed.:-) ,james in San Antonio

5167 is a perfect travel companion. Mine gets consistent use and still looks near perfect.

I use my 5167R in the pool on holiday. I’m very careful with anything on my wrist worth more than a family car and touch wood to date, not a mark on it.
I think you’ll be fine. |

Better to ask forgiveness. If you can afford it don't deny yourself the chance to own a ferrari.

when you have the amazing finishing and craftsmanship of Patek you wanna see if every chance you get. It would be like having a Ferrari but can't see the engine. that being said its more than durable to wear everyday! have had a 5167 for a year or so with no such blemishes or excessive wear and tear.

I used to own a 5167 and never had issues with water, if I remember correctly the YM is rated at 100M and the Aquanaut at 120M. Get the one you like most, water resistance capabilities are equal, solid or clear caseback, the PP actually has a slight edge (according to official ratings).
