Usually when you have to ask you already know the answer.

I concur with the group on this one. It appears too big. If you want to be certain, try taking your photo looking into a mirror, or have a buddy take the photo from a greater distance.

These close up wrist shots always seem to give an overestimation of size, in my opinion. It can even make a 33mm Calatrava look big.

That said, those lugs don't lie.

Yes for your bare wrist.

But if you had several watches, it could be a perfect one wear over the sweater or parka. A Winter watch, if you will.

That Oris depth gauge is a huge watch. But an awesome piece of engineering.

And OP, I think that watch is too big in that context.

In my opinion, that watch is too big for my wrists and mine are larger than yours.

I have seen this done in Italy in a non pretentious way. I wonder if it’s to do with the heat and putting a cotton layer between skin and leather / metal to avoid sweat. I will ask next time I’m over there.

Personally think it looks good on you... depends on your frame/forearms as well, imo.

It is called The Big Pilot for a reason, afterall.

Well.. its called a BIG pilot! and its an awesome watch! If you believe in the textbook definition of whats supposed to be "too big" based on your wrist size, then maybe its too big. But if you love it... forget whats supposed to be "too big" and enjoy it! its a great watch!

Beware the close-up phone pic. The lens always makes the watch appear larger than it looks in real life.

For example, my IWC is 46mm, same as the Big Pilot you’re considering. In close wrist shots it looks way too large for me, lug overhang and all. But a shot of the same watch on the same wrist when taken at a distance gives a better representation of how it looks.

But all that aside, the only thing that really matters is whether you feel good and enjoy wearing it.

Looks a little bit too big. I went through the same grief process over that watch too....

This help me to get over it:

Yes its a bit big but I love it and I'm 100% ok with that. What i had to get used to was the weight of it. (Despite the fact that I have a Rolex SD43mm) White gold is heavier.. oh well. First world problems.

I think it not only looks too large but actually is for your wrist size. Too many other options to buy a watch that you might not be good with.

Only you know the answer to that question.

If you like the watch and you are comfortable wearing it, then in my opinion, it's not too big.

If you have doubts, then it probably is too big.

There's nothing profound in my response, but that's the way I see it.

As long as you like it, it doesn't matter what other people think.

This would fit me perfectly. Most chronos have 2 buttons - this has 3?

Yep! This is a split-seconds chronograph. That third button splits the seconds counter so you can time two events. In the first photo you can see the seconds hands split into two.

Also called a rattrapante or a doppelchronograph.

Consensus.......too big based on a poor picture of what it really looks like on you. Watch wears much smaller than that close up photo appears to illustrate.

Enjoy the watch and don’t worry about what others think.
