40 crown turns = ??? wrist swings?

so 40 crown turns is fully wound....what does that equate to in terms of normal, walking wrist swings?

Swinging your hand does not give you a full wind. If your watch is at a standstill I would wind it manually till the clutch kicks in before wearing it.

40 crown turns is equal to 4,253.45 hand swings. I always thought that was common knowledge.

But that's only true north of the equator and if walking west to east.

Start walking and count the armswings.

When you get to approx. 1,500 swings you should be there.

And yes, I'm serious.

Is one crown wind revolution exactly equal to one full rotation of the rotor?

Just when you think you've heard everything.

I think this is the first time I've ever seen this question.

Now is that normal walking arm swings (approx 120 degrees), or are we talking about a full 360 degree full pitcher warm up swings??? I have always been told that when dead stopped, 40 full pitcher rotations of the arm should get it going well again... but then you have to set the date if it has one...

Just like on a winder, it will take 650 "wrist swings" just to maintain a balance on power used vs. power (wind) input.

Most people do not put even this amount of energy into their watch on a daily basis and the watch eventually winds down to only energy in/per day - some put in so little energy that their watch stops over night or after a few hours..

To fully wind the watch, it would take many times that 650 wrist-swing number.

That's 650 wrist swings per hour to maintain current power reserve.

Tilt the watch vertical and wind arm in full circle also rotate north to south to complete one full wind. Do this 40 times while spinning in a circle.

So I guess it will never wind down if I just spend every afternoon in the local pub.
