Does anyone have a DJ2 AND a DJ41?

Preference?

I’ve had two Datejust 2s (traded both) and now have a Datejust 41 (steel and yellow gold, jubilee, black dial).

While the Datejust 2s were very nice and comfortable, I prefer the Datejust 41 proportions (indexes and bezel size) and the jubilee bracelet. It’s also incredibly comfortable.

What kind of numerals are on your two tone DJ41?

Arabic? Indexes? Roman?

Sounds like indexes. Any pictures available?

Thanks!

Shame more aren’t chiming in on this thread. I’d of thought there would be a few people fitting this demographic.
FWIW, I’m a DJ2 fan. Have three of them, all baton dials as that’s what makes the DJ2 so youthful to my eye. I wouldn’t flip any of the DJ2’s I have for a 41, especially as they’ve now been discontinued, but I could be tempted by a 41 TT Jubilee with light silver sunburst dial. That’s a sweet looking combo.

I had the DJ11, and traded in for DJ41 126333, which ticked the boxes for me, primarily Jubilee, and an excellent method of its attachment to case. I like the buckle and micro adjust

My dad wears a DJ2 and the proportions look great to me. I really like the large fluted bezel.

The DJ2 is gorgeous in a sporty/bling sort of way.

I like the overall thickness of DJ2, but like the overall dial dimensions of the DJ41. I have to admit, when I first held the 41 I was a little underwhelmed on the dimensions and weight.

The DJ41 is the perfect DJ, IMO. Size, proportions, looks/feel, you name it.

That said, I've owned a few DJ2's. It's a great watch in its own right. In the end, it' all personal preference.

Personally, the DJ II gets my vote. Some will argue that the proportions are "off", but I feel otherwise. The sportier feel was exactly what I was looking for

I tried a DJ 41 on at a disinterested AD in NYC. The saleswoman told me that the DJ2 that I was wearing was the same watch as the DJ41. Great saleswomanship!

To my eye, they looked like the faces were the same size. I thought the DJ41 would be smaller. Am I wrong?

Really liked the jubilee bracelet.

Have DJ41 on jubilee, most comfortable watch I have ever owned, and there have been a few!

I'm also interested if the DJ41 case is smaller than the DJII & if the lugs are shorter. Sorry Scarlett Knight for threadjacking but inquiring minds want to know. LOL

DJ 41 on an Oyster is pretty much my perfect watch. It has that sportier feel while still being more fined and better proportioned than the DJ 2.

DJ2 wears bigger, looks bigger, is bigger - I love my DJ2

I tried a DJ41 and it didn't feel right - The movement seems great but the 3136 in the DJ2 IS great so its all preference.

I also think the black on the DJ2 is truer then the DJ41.

There are a ton of threads on this, but I will summarize that I own a fluted blue DJII and had every intention of flipping for the same version in the DJ41. I wanted the new movement and the supposed improvements to the design and case. Well when I finally saw one in the flesh I was decidedly underwhelmed. Just didn't knock me off my feet the way the DJII did the first time I saw it. Nothing wrong with the 41, in the end I just thought for me the larger size, more prominent bezel, and larger batons worked better and were more striking than the new edition. So my suggestion would be try both on and don't pick one or the other based on photographs.

Not a DJ, but I owned both a DD40 (same size as DJ41) and a DD2. I sold the DD40 and kept the DD2. I love the larger case, sportier appearance, and less formal dial choices.

Both beautiful, DJ2 more modern and sporty, DJ41 more classic and dressy.

Here, quickly put this together from online pictures for better comparison of these two references.

I loved the DJII when it first came out. I thought the size was great. The only thing holding me back from getting one was the lack of jubilee bracelet. When the DJ41 came out with jubilee it was a must have for me. I'm glad because I also like the proportions of the DJ41 better.

I prefer the DJII and its the one that I own. I have the blue baton dial with fluted bezel. Sometimes I think of trading it in for something else and then I put it on I think to myself, no way, what a wonderful watch lol. Its a beaut!

I bought mine BNIB from Tony (Justrolex) here on TRF at a a great price and warranty card from a Canadian AD. So there you go. Maybe shoot him a PM. He shipped it all the way to Japan for me in like 2-3 days.

I was holding out to pick this up and a DJ II ghost roman dial, but neither presented themselves and I decided to buy my Rhodium Yach master.

I love my black DJII and wish I would have bought the white DJII last year. I have seen new DJ41 in white and couldn't pull the trigger on it initially.

I will seriously consider the new white 39mm Oyster Perpetual in comparison to the white DJ41 smooth bezel oyster. Different watches, certainly, but something about the DJ41 leaves me a bit underwhelmed. Guess I like the DJII batons and size better. The OP 39mm dial may look a little more sporty, drawing me to it. Have to see it in person to compare.
