Wrist pain - Black Bay.

I recently swapped my late 90s Omega SMP for a Tudor Black bay and am starting to get wrist pain from it, kind of a carpal dull ache. I thought might be an extra link and a bit looser fit but still seems to be recurring. I've a 7inch and a bit wrist, so its not like its a huge watch for me.

Thinking Nato, but I must prefer a bracelet for daily use.

Or are we in land of sale and a smaller watch, so annoying as I had literally zero issues with my Omega!

Could be coincidental? Maybe try wearing it on the other wrist for a few months and then swap back again once the pain has long gone to see what happens.

I don't think so, started when I got it and never an issue before and seems to lessen if I take it off for a bit.

I don't know if this is a common thing, a black bay is obviously more chunky than a 40mm Omega SMP (its about 11mm thick) and a lighter bracelet.

So annoying as I really like the watch and there is very little else I can think of?

Maybe try a nato, see if that helps with weight.

The Black Bay’s case back is quite flat. A bit like the Daytona. It wears very different from the concave casebacks.

I find the more concave casebacks like the ones from the Subs more comfortable.

When I got my Everest band for my black bay it was a game changer in terms of comfort. I’d give it a try.

Have you considered trying a rubber strap maybe? I keep mine on an Everest strap in the summer and it's the most comfortable the watch has felt. Distributes the weight nicely and keeps the watch from sliding around too much. With a Nato you will notice the weight of the watch more because the strap is so light. I liked the look in the Nato but found it moved around on my wrist more than I wanted. The Everest was better than I had hoped.

Ask your friendly neurologist for an electronic physiology test. That’ll show whether it’s carpal tunnel. Less like is ionic nerve compression.

If it’s your wrist, go get a hand transplant keep the watch!

Sorry you’re in pain.

Might try reversing the bracelet. I have a sub and there was something about the clasp hinge that was digging into a tendon in my wrist. When I reversed it it was much more comfortable.

Gonna have a play with fit, think I went from too tight to too loose and both were causing issues.

I'd be very surprised if joint issues magically happened at same time as new watch and only on one wrist, so think can rule out medical stuff.

If it keeps up, I'll just have to go back to 40mm and a thinner case.

I had the same experience with similar or same sized wrist. I couldn’t take it anymore after a year. I traded the Tudor for a DJ41 which is somehow perfect. And then I bought a no date Sub when the AD made one available. Both of the Rolex watches have fit great and no wrist pain, aches, etc.

So far my BB with steel band has not caused any issues, I do have a leather strap coming to give it a different look

Here is what mine looks like on an Everest if you are interested. I think you should try a rubber strap before ditching the watch. Might make a big difference for you.

I had pain in the top of my wrist just where it meets the hand some years ago, it was because I was wearing my watch too far forward towards my hand, restricting movement and annoying the tendon. I changed where I wear the watch to back past the wrist bone and it went away. Hopefully it’s something simple like that for you.

I had the same problem with the bracelet. It was fine on nato and fabric strap it came with. But killed my wrist bone on the bracelet!

My wrist is extremely sensitive to different watches. My Submariner feels wonderful. Others cause immediate pain. There is little rhyme or reason just different shapes and fit. I can’t even wear a rubber strap.
