Yes the sports watches are in demand now but just look at this piece, Rolex Cellini Prince!

Full white gold (yellow and rose), unique, beautiful and elegant, the only Rolex with displayed caseback, fantastic movement and decoration

IMO it’s rolex effort to challenge the holy trinity in the game of haute horlogerie

it failed, it became a watch that nobody wants, the second hand value dropped almost 50% of its retail price, even OP holds better value than this

And to wear it would mean you are in league with lucifer himself....

I would leave well alone and stick with steel sports stunners......
I would rather own a 40mm busy dial Air-King

I suspect these may become collectible in a few decades, having many of the hallmarks:

- Low production numbers
- “Unusual” Rolex design
- Unappreciated in its time
- Unique features for a Rolex (shape of the case, display case-back etc)

Nevertheless I don’t particularly care for it. Potential for collectibility would be the only reason I’d even consider it over a Reverso. But not for very long.

There is only one Rolex Prince IMHO and its not the modern day one although its a fine watch with a great movement.

I love it.
That model line will be desirable in the future but is highly undervalued now.
I love that it's so different from the usual Rolex models and has some unique features, case shape, movement etc. I feel there is a fetish for new SS sports on this forum and little interest in anything else.

I wouldn’t say it’s “challenging” the trinity. There is nothing complicated about the watch. The Skydweller is much more horologically advanced

IMO Rolex never really spent much effort decorating its movements, it’s core strengths are the reliability and practicality.

Yes it’s a simple time only piece, but it’s finishing is brilliant, don’t think any other Rolex movements have this kind of treatment

If the Cellini Prince was a success, perhaps Rolex would be making modern minute repeaters, tourbillons... etc

I've never paid much attention to this reference. Just noticing the hand on the seconds subdial, and I find the shape particularly unappealing. Just doesn't work with the rest of the dial IMO.
