Whoever designed Rolex models like the Viceroy and Imperial never seems to get credit for influencing the OQ case.

I have a 17013 two-tone Oyesterquartz and it is my absolute favorite Rolex. The design is stunning and the bracelet is superb. A joy to wear.

I am not sure how much work Rolex put into design and creation of the Oyesterquartz, but it is extremely undervalued in today's market.
I am on the lookout for the all steel version now, but they are getting hard to find... especially if you want one in original unpolished sharp edges condition.

It gains/looses a second a month-to-month....about 8-10 second variation over a year....which is incredible. What's impressive is that Rolex 30+ year old manufacture can take on a modern super quartz and hold it's own.

I've owned two Oysterquartz watches and the only downside for me was the battery changes every eighteen months (or so), and the loud ticking noise they emit. As a timekeeper, they are excellent!

Of the several I've owned and from speaking to my local wis crew owners, of which two are reputable AD sales reps - accurate yes.

High maintenance no.

You can replace all the guts in an OQ for about $1500. And that's every 25 years or more if oiled and checked every second battery change or so.

The horror stories are all propaganda from quartz haters and even some lovers who want them to remain off the radar of speculators.

Oysterquartz are amazing. Just bear in mind that RSC servicing can be really expensive

Here is my unpolished one-liner from 1978

And bear in mind that servicing them (by RSC) can be astronomically expensive (e.g. in $$ HKD):

The black dial on the OQ is just stunning. It has this black-grayish velvet kinda glow to it. Hard to capture on a pic but here is an wristie anyhow:

0k, it's not an Oyster quartz but it has an oyster-like bracelet. I was reluctant at first but might as well just post a couple of shots of my newest unorthodox crazy colourway toy from my collection.

I thought the Longines Conquest Very High Precision Quartz Cal L288.2 with 3 jewels movement was Bang for the Buck at US 1 grand. I mean the cheapest GS quartz still costs twice as much, right guys? The Swiss accuracy tolerance is pretty awesome at -/+5 secs per year and that very cool Gear Position Detection /GPD system is really something to behold. Wished all my watches had this function! Offered in 2 sizes, 41/43 mm, the V.H.P is also fitted with a perpetual date calendar until the year 2499 with a long extended 94 months battery life. Once the End of Battery Life indicator kicks in, the watch must be delivered back to Saint Imier, Switzerland for battery replacement and recalibration.
This is a special Longines Conquest V.H.P Gold Coast 2018 XXI Commonwealth Games Edition and here comes " My Bragging Rights" : I've been informed by Longines that I'm the 0NLY ONE in Malaysia to date who owns this funky quartz !
