Milgauss for me.
The AK has far too many large numbers on the dial, made worse by two different number materials and even worse still by two different numbering philosophies. |

Definitely the AK. It’s my daily beater and it has held up fine so far no matter what I have put it through.

They’re both a little funky but the AirKing has been growing on me and would be my choice.

The milgauss with the green crystal is the winner. I have owned pretty much every single steel Rolex. My girlfriend, mother, and girlfriends mother all picked the 116400gv as their favorite so far. They really liked the green crystal and found it very unique. So for the non-WIS (especially the ladies) seem to really enjoy the green crystal. This is obviously a small sample size but I personally tend to agree. The airking takes the case from the milgauss and puts a new dial on there.
The milgauss is dressier and the airking is brushed and more of a daily wearer. Another consideration.

The Milgauss, although gorgeous in the Z-blue form, is hardly flawless, with its toytime second hand and overlarge case size, but it's the definite winner. AKs are great in earlier references. |

I like both of them quite a bit. Seems like nobody liked the AK when it first came out, but it seems to be sneaking up there in popularity of late.
The AK has a lower price point, but if you can find a white Milgauss at an AD you can probably get a great deal on it. I have the white Milgauss and love it, but I'd gladly wear either one. For what it's worth, my wife LOVES the Air-King. |

I am leaning toward an Air King 😀, but I do like the thunder bolt on the Milgauss too. I will give myself a cooling off period whichever watch I can’t get it out of my head will be the right choice ( I think ).

Milgauss
The new AK looks far too busy for me so if I had to choose between the new models it would have to be the Milgauss.
Much better looking is the AK 114210 which is why I bought one last week. Nice and plain which Rolex should have thought of when they re-designed the AK. |

I'm not a huge fan of either (I'd personally get an Explorer or Oyster Perpetual) but if forced to choose, I would go for the Milgauss. Still, the Air King is a much better value and if it didn't have the 3, 6, and 9, I would probably take it over the Milguass.

Milgauss for me, owned the black dial in the past. The AK is too busy for me, to many colors and things going on.

Air King is simply more contemporary, looks fresher, and comes in at a better price point. Plus Omega has kind of trumped the current Milgauss.

Of all three of my Rolex watches the one I get the most compliments on is the Z-Blue Milgauss. I do not just mean from "watch guys" I see in daily life. If I spend a night out having dinner and hitting a few bars I will without question have at least one woman comment on how much they like the blue. The DateJust 41 and Sub are nice but they do not get a flurry of compliments.
I do not mean you should buy based on what others think, but the above is just meant to help. |

I've never cared for the modern AK. Similar to what others have said already regarding the numbers, different fonts, and colors -- it's aesthetically unpleasing to me.
The Milgauss is a cool watch. Can't say I'd be crazy about it being my first choice if we're talking about a single watch collection, but would much rather add that to the line up over an AK. |
