Rolex Sub or Tudor Peli
I been wearing my black sub for over a year now. The Tudor is new, and I like to hear what everyone say about it.

I absolutely LOVE that Tudor! The only reason I do not own it is because I don’t think I’d wear it often enough. As far as which one I’d pick. Between those two, I’d go with the Tudor.

Tudor all the way. I prefer how the lugs are tapered down more to the bracelet. Much nicer.

The Tudor is a fine watch. I love the titanium and adjustable clasp.

Although I prefer Rolex overall, from the 2 in that pic I choose the Tudor.

Complicated. The Sub is the Sub. The classic, the standard. Everyone watch enthusiast should own one at some point.
The Pelagos, especially the blue one, is a stunning watch. If you have a Sub (you do), the Pelagos is a great addition to your collection. If I had to pick one watch, I'd pick the Sub every time. If I had to decide what to add to a collection next to a Sub, the Pelagos is a great choice (throwing OP, DJ, GMT into the decision mix). |

Sub easily, different league entirely. But it's not a fair comparison imo, the Pelagos vs the new(ish) Seamaster would be a better one and in that comparison the Pelagos is excellent.
2 great watches you got there, you made a great choice on both |

I am not a fan of the maxi case, so I would go with the Tudor.

I’m in a similar situation in that I got the Pelagos 2 weeks ago, and have had the 116610LV for 3 years. I haven’t worn the Sub much since getting the Pelagos. Part of it is that the Pelagos is new, and I’m still in the honeymoon phase. But I can tell you that - to me - the Pelagos really is a tremendous watch on so many levels, even when compared to the Sub. I love it and it's definitely going to see a lot wrist time now/for the Summer. Bottom line, I’m very happy to have both the Sub and the Pelagos.

They look pretty good in the safe together. I enjoy both, but the Pelagos definitely punches above it’s weight class and gets more wrist time than the SubC Date. Part of that is because at this point I think the scratches and dings are making the Pelagos look better, it’s just a mean watch, very much a tool watch in my opinion. I love the flat dial and dull finish, and the fact that no one ever notices the watch. The bracelet is fantastic as well, and I like how the bracelet is wider and has less of a taper. If you’re going for a tool watch, Pelagos by a mile.
The Sub definitely has a different feeling to it. Much fancier with the gloss dial, ceramic bezel, shiny hands and polished case and link edges. It does seem to exude some of the history of the watch and brand but that could be in my mind only. I will say I MUCH prefer the bezel on the SubC compared to the coin grip edge of the Pelagos bezel. I really think SD43 or DSSD would be a more fair comparison to the Pelagos. |

They are both great, but I favor the sub. Go for both if you can swing it.

The Pelagos is a great watch without a shadow of doubt. I’d go sub here however. I get the boxy case issues, but actually the pelagos with pivoted end links looks as boxy to me (as do most tudors and I’ve had a few).

The Submariner is the far superior watch no question.

You can only wear one watch. If you have the Sub, then I struggle to see the point of the Tudor. (I am not the kind of person who rotates watches. If I like a watch I will wear it, day in day out for years.)

I bought a black two liner Pelagos for my daily wearer. I totally love that thing.
I have a Rolex Explorer 2 polar that comes out every Sunday. Lovely to wear but twice the price. It's the Sunday dress suit I put back in the safe the next morning and go back to business casual for the remainder of the week! I look at the sub about the same. Can't beat the Pelagos for the price. Blue or black is a personal opinion. My very first really nice watch and probably my favorite. |

I love my SubC but, honestly, if the Pelagos had been available when I bought mine, I would probably have gone with the Tudor in either black or blue.
I just love a titanium case.

The amount of replies citing the chubby lugs on the SubC as a reason to favor the Pelagos is a testament to how terrible Rolex's design was for that iteration.
"Hm, we've had a watch with a consistent and popular design for over 50 years... naturally that means we should change it." |

Always a Rolex over a Tudor.

How does it compare? Tudor is a good watch except for those darn hands. Every man to his own taste...You like the pair but from my point of view there is absolutely no why shape or form that these two watches should be viewed together - They are not good pair. In fact they clash - why compare a silk purse to a sow's ear? You have the iconic dive watch next to that? How about putting that Submariner Date next to a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms or the Omega's Seamaster 60 Anniversary 300M? Two other great looking watches! Having Tudor's Pelagos adjacent to the Submariner Date is just a photo of Beauty and the Beast. Other than having two dive watches, I see little in common with these two watches. Taste and preferences are subjective and thousand just love the Pelagos. Of course there is a significant camp of folks who love the snowflake hands, yet others view such hands with distain. The hour hand reminds me more of a shovel than a snowflake! Moreover, when you look closely the tip of the hour hand you will see that it points simultaneously at two minute markers! However, I know some Omega fanboys who just cannot stand Rolex! And many a person cannot stand the lovely Submariner. Nevertheless it truly boggles the mind that many people just love those snowflake hands! Just another case indicating that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Well again, wear the watch you love no matter what others think.

"Nevertheless it truly boggles the mind that many people just love those snowflake hands!"
Those snowflake hands were developed with the advice of French navy divers in the 1960s, to be more visible underwater than those dinky little Rolex mercedes hands, which were designed for dress-style watches way back in the 1930s, not for diving.

They are both pretty cool.
But the SubC is just a little bit cooler. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
