I take the Speedmaster - almost ANY Speedmaster - over the Daytona. Value aside, I much prefer the size and legibility of the Speedy. The Daytona is a gorgeous watch, no doubt. But it's a bit too small for my taste and ease of reading the time is poor. As for the Omega Speedmaster, the historical tie-in with Space Program is another factor for me. Long time space geek. I watched live as Neil Armstrong took those historic steps on the moon.

I know I'm no astronaut. But I'm also no LeMans driver. The Daytona has the auto racing pedigree. Omega, space. So I'm sporting an Omega Speedmaster Co-Axial Moonwatch Chronograph instead of a Rolex Daytona.

This particular omega is a mighty handsome watch but alas it's not in the same league as a Daytona. There are many copies.........of which this design is clearly one.

I heard there was a five year waiting list for Omegas. Oh, wait, did I say Omega?

Not sure if that one is an automatic that does not require hand winding but if not, no way. I sold a Speedy Tuesday and a standard Moon Watch that required daily winding because the crowns were too damn small and a major pain in the butt to wind. You will literally wear a blister on your thumb eventually. The automatic self winding versions are thick and chunky.

I owned one for 1 year and never wore it albeit I also had the blue panda version of the same watch (much nicer IMO) $ for $ it’s a worthy competitor with a more storied history than the Daytona (well the moonwatch professional version anyway) but better than Daytona it is NOT. No comparison on quality, no comparison on movement, no comparison on value retention.

These are fashionable Speedmasters, the puslometer scale makes in not so common place and as with all panda dials it’s as good as money in the bank but if I had to buy another omega tomorrow it would be a moonwatch professional which is a better watch. If I were to get the choice between a speedy or a Daytona it’s a Daytona no question

IMO the two most iconic men’s watches are the sub and the speedy. Daytona is cool and rare, but not a speedy.

The quality and finish is just not there with the Omega when you look closely. I know because I also own an Omega FIOS

What about the AP ROC?

Now that one I would have to seriously think about.

Two different leagues. Great looking watch though, and a contender in its league I'm sure. Wear what you love....

Hope to get a Zenith El Primero , or a GP Laureato Chrono....then again, the ultimate Chrono is the Omega Speedy 321 movement. There are so many chrono outside the Paul Newman fan club.

Daytona legibility is nearly nonexistent. I'd rather wear the Omega.

Both are beautiful. Not sure if "better" or "worse" makes sense in the watch world.

Likely a sand blasted dial of off white coloring. Is your question serious?

I think the dial/case are nice. I do not wear strap watches so not my favorite.

That's a very attractive off-white dial on that Omega. A handsome watch overall.
