Incoming...Omega

After much internal debate I decided to go back to my first luxury watch brand...Omega.

I’ve gone the Rolex and Tudor route along with a few of the German brands (Nomos, Stowa) which I still own and recently gifted my Explorer, white OP39, and blue Pelagos to my three boys.
That left me with a hole in my collection for that dressy/sporty watch that could be worn comfortably in any situation. I also wanted a watch with a blue dial and seriously considered the blue OP39.
In the end, the Seamaster Aqua Terra won out for several reasons:
1 - aesthetics, notably the beautiful horizontal teak dial
2 - movement (co-axial caliber 8900) which I felt was superior to the Rolex OP 3132 movement
3 - 60 hour power reserve
4 - availability
5 - price point (a substantial difference)

The only downside to this watch, in my opinion, are the PCL’s which have never been my cup of tea. I would consider brushing the bracelet sometime in the future but will leave it be for now.

I am totally smitten with this watch. The teak blue dial is just the right shade of blue and really is quite stunning in the flesh.

All in all, the Aqua Terra is right up there in quality with the two Rolex’s I’ve owned and just might be the best looking one of the bunch.
I haven’t set the date or time yet... I figured someone would mention that.

Thanks guys.
Iím really very very impressed with this watch. First of all itís simply gorgeous and perfect as a daily wearer regardless of the situation...easily at home with a Tux or shorts and a T shirt. As dressy as it looks, the teak dial and blue seconds hand lend just the right degree of sportiness.

Thanks Jonathan.
I gave it a lot of thought and it came up the winner very easily. It sort of fell into my lap and just couldn’t pass it up. It’s probably my last major watch purchase so I’m simply going to enjoy what I have. This one is going to get a lot of wrist time though.

It’s really an incredibly versatile watch. I think the PCL’s on this watch add more to the versatility. This is especially important if your collection consists of a couple of watches.

I'm really bemused as to why you wouldn't set the date time before snapping a photo. That's the very first thing I do whenever I try on a watch. At the very least it gives me an opportunity to check the workings of the movement.

Well, after just three days I can honestly say that this is quickly becoming one of my all time favorites.
Timekeeping is spot on, itís comfortable to wear for long periods of time, and its got an extremely legible dial that just begs you to stare at it.

One thing about this watch has been a revelation though. Iím actually warming up to the PCLís. I never cared for them before, but then again, I never owned a watch that had them before. They lend another degree of versatility to the wrist presence of the watch making a great looking sport watch into a better looking dress watch.
Needless to say, Iím more than pleased with the entire package.

Now I need some strap options. Being retired, I donít want the dressy look on a daily basis that the bracelet provides.
I like the matching rubber OEM strap but the price borders on the insane. I know there are knockoffs available on eBay for about $80.
A curved end strap would be preferable as Iím not sure how a straight end strap would look on this watch.
