Rolex GMT Master II 16710 Error Dial

Hi does anyone know anything about some of the old style GMT Master II, ref. 16710, that on the dials the II is ll and has no lines over the l? I've heard that this is a mistake. Just curious if there is anything to this and if perhaps they one day will be more valuable the the correct II.

Thanks,
Jon

From what ive heard its not a "Mistake" just a different run of dials rolex produced. Dont think it will be more valuable in the future as it seems there are quite a few around. I have one with the ll too

True story.

No idea if one will be more valuable than the other someday.

Thanks for the quick reply. Do you think it could only be with the final "Z." models?

Jon

FWIW- An AD in my town had a Coke and a Pepsi, one with one of each kind of dial. He didn't seem to think there was any rush to buy either one of them (and he was on commission).

I have an M serial with just the ll. I was told on this forum that Rolex uses different dial suppliers.

Interesting. I was told that the last of the Rootbeers were "D" serial. I guess they were wrong.

I thought the same. That means there must have been Z series rootbeers as well.
How odd.

It is not a "mistake". It is just a variation in use of fonts. Might be a good conversation piece, but IMHO not something that would make the || fetch a premium.
