Submariner 1680
What is a reasonable price for a non-red 1977 - 1978 sub in 'mint' condition with box and papers? What is the max I should spend?

I would say around the $7k USD mark is a fair price. $7750 from a dealer with overheads.

It depends whether you really want the original box and papers.
Collectors go nuts for the bits and bobs. As Mike has shown the 1680 can be had for as low as $6k, without box and papers.

A 1680 white with papers and box went for DKR. 45,000 recently in Denmark. That is approx. 8,600 $.

Thanks. I thought it was a bit on the expensive side. Unfortunaty, I did not have the time to inspect the 1680 thoroughly. It did say "T<25" and had slightly patinated indices, but as far as I recall the hands looked too white in comparison to the dial. Might have been SL. I went to the shop a week later, but by that time the 1680 had already been sold.

What should I be looking for to make sure it's autentic? How do I know that it has original dials, bracelet, etc. Is there a FAQ on buying a used Rolex?
