A Good Second Rolex

Question - What do you think a good second Rolex would be if one had a GMT II C SS? I am thinking about looks like different color and wrist presentation. I think the sub is kind of the same being black on the SS so maybe a blue sub??? Comments??? Two is better the one right?

My first was the TT Blue Sub. I then received the Daytona as a wedding present from my wife. If I "bought" my second one myself, it would be my SD...

Why do you have a GMT? Do you travel a lot? I have a GMT II and for a second got the white faced Explorer II. I travel 3 to 4 times a year and the the GMTs just serves me well. Then there is a big contrast from the black to the white. BTW...my "rootbeer" GMT 16753 will be in my wrist this weekend.

I have the 16710 and swap it with the 116234. Two totally different watches. I think with all the options of the DJ you could probably find one to please.

The GMT II C is a very versatile watch in wardrobe and occasion. I agree with you that you will find the date and no date subs would be to similar. Perhaps an LV or Bluesy. Not a fan of the YM myself but definitely a contrast. If money is no object then a daytona is in order. For best contrast though, a turnograph or other DJ would make a nice dress watch

White face Explorer ll. Crisp, dressy for most occasions...dresses up or down, second time scheme, wonderful white face, great for travel. Or do a great Date Just like the blue or white faced TOG with white gold bezel. Dressy enough, yet sporty too. These watches look great under a nice dress shirt, yet not too stuffy and masculine and sporty. I kind of regret having 2 sport Rollies and not a DJ...

Hate to buck the pro series trend, but for a weekend watch the Cellinum with the arctic blue dial and black strap is SWEET!

Any watch in the Rolex line would compliment your GMT II C SS just like the other kind people on here have said.

However, if I make a suggestion, I say you get a TT Datejust 116233 as a second watch. I say its the perfect balance to have one sports and one dress watch. The watch pictured below I think is a great model to consider, especially if you like that new tuxedo dial.

I suggest this one! Would be totally different than the GMT IIc. Different colour dial, different bracelet, smaller size, less complications and perfect for dress wear:

(source: see url on pic).

I have an SS GMT IIc and SS Daytona white face, and although they are a very nice combination, they BOTH have the new-styly shiny Oyster bracelets.

I sometimes think that the above DJ and an SD would be even more perfect since the SD has no cyclops and has a matte bracelet. Makes it even more different than the DJ!

Jerome, I like that DJ!

I started the other way, with a Bluesy, now want a 116710. However, a TT DJ is an excellent complimentary piece to wear for dress!

Thanks for the comments. The Datejust seems to dressy for me. I don't ever get dressed up as I am an inside sales guy who wears jeans to work everyday. The YM or the Explorer seems like good ones to get but I guess I should slow down and wait for my GMT II to arrive and savor that for awhile:)

I say go for the blue Sub. It's a great looking watch and believe me you won't be disappointed. Good luck.
