It’s simply a matter of form vs. function. I can’t stand not having a date, so I don’t care what it looks like. Heck, it even bothers me not having a day, which is why I wear a Tudor 76200 over a DJ 1600.

The question is Sub or Sub Date, and for me, it’s Sub

For Sub I vote no date.

Date!

Funny I was just making a point last night over dinner. At work I sign many forms and always have to write the date... coming back home after work my wife was like, what’s the date today and guess what... I had no clue, had to look at my watch lol. Made me realize I cannot have a watch without a date - less it was a Chronograph, then it’s fine!

No date. Cleaner, simpler, more in keeping with the original function of a dive watch.

Saturation divers and those who spend time at sea certainly appreciate a date, thus the SeaDweller’s date.

It's all down to your personal choice.

Personally I would go with a non Date. To which I have already purchased one after waiting quite a while to obtain one.

My only reason to go dateless is I have every other modern day bit of Tec that clearly shows me the date...

My only wish is for Rolex to release a dateless 116613LB plus The Hulk..

Submariner = No date. I have a DJ for the date fix.

For sure Sub for me. Nice clean classic look. Even better if it's a 2 liner. But that's just me.

Could you not say the same about the time? The date on the wrist is still more convenient than digging something out of my pocket, which was the entire ethos of the wristwatch in the first place.

If you have more than one watch, then non date Sub. If you will only have the one then get a date model

The original Submariner 6204 did not have a date. That's what I was referring to with respect to "original function".

Life is too short to lose track of which day it is. Embrace that bubble, it's awesome.

Your point is quite right & duly noted. But I seem to spend a lot of time this season overseeing others in a control room which is full of radar and range scanning high Tec systems plus the usual mass of PC's.

Need a vacation...

Easy, do you want to know the date.....at a glance. If so then get the date. If not, get the no date and pull your phone out all the time or get a better memory.
I'd get the Submariner Date.

I prefer watches that originally were designed without a date function....without the date.

I seriously cant live without a date on my watch. I look at it more than time. Time is judged by the sun. The date is another story especially in So Cal because we have no seasons.

Submariner is my choice over the Submariner Date and Explorer I is my choice as well over the Explorer II; however, I think the Date feature looks great in the GMT models.

114060 gets my vote. I got the Sub Date first and six months later I had to get the ND to be really happy. When the second ND arrived this year (5 digit) it was heaven. The original Sub is a perfect watch IMHO.

Had the chance to get one today, no date, it is a great looking watch, I turned it down today, as had told myself after buying a few pieces this year that the next one will either be the sea dweller or daytona, which ever comes first, so after them it will be the no date.

Well, sure, but the current Sub is far enough away from that watch that it’s barely applicable. The Black Bay is closer.

I’m a date guy. It’s why I’ve never had a Daytona.

Douglas, I respect that you like the BB but a Tudor is closer than a Rolex Sub?
