All the way ruthenium and I am not necessarily biased. :-)

Black dial. It is more legible and the ruthenium looks a little washed out to me. I would take the blue (which I did) and the white/silver over both of these, though.

I’m curious how many are picking the ruthenium because of the short run, or do 2/3 actually prefer the aesthetic to the black?

I think if you want something a little odd or new then pick ruthenium but you if prefer simple and easy going, then black is your choice.

I wonder that, too. When shopping for 15400STs last year, I almost always saw Rutheniums available in the metal. Only sometimes saw black or white/silver. Never saw blue. Same with 15450STs.

I tended to think Ruthenium was always on hand because they were slower sellers. But maybe I was wrong?

I think many including me start off with black safe dials and then they become a bit stale and also ubiquitous and so you start looking for more variety. Of the 6 watches I have now, only one is black and that is a reverse panda dial on my RG 44, I have blue, white and green Rolexes and a brown and grey PP.

I had the black, blue and now the ruthenium (in this order). I actually prefer the ruthenium over all the others.
