5170P available at Wynn & Co. Watches

It just arrived today. If anyone is interested, ask for Diane.

These are slowly showing up at US ADs. I saw one a couple of weeks ago at a different AD. The blue dial and the additional weight of the platinum case is quite nice.

Can't wait to see one! I really like the baguette diamond markers.

Also nice to have a 2017 Patek not to have multi-year waitlists and crazy secondary market prices.

Worrying that all these releases are freely available...no demand or too much supply

It could be sold by now for all I know. It wasn't in the display case...but the salesperson called me as soon as it arrived. It's a beautiful piece, but I'm more partial to the 5070. I'm also not someone that can pull off the diamond look.

I’d have to sell off a lot for this one - something I would consider but need to see it

I think it's demand. I've been to four AD's in Italy and they all had a 5170 in the window, various varieties. The new 6006G is also readily available. Also never seen a customer in an AD in Italy.

It’s the price. 50k retail for gold and 75k for Pt and I think we would have more interest.

I thought the P was quite good value versus the R

Maybe so but a value compared to a watch that’s ambitiously priced none the less.

6006g are starting to pop up in ADs as of the last two weeks. My local AD and Tourneau in midtown Manhattan has one in the display case. But for the 5170P, are the baguettes really worth the premium?

Well, Swiss retail for the PT is 85,000 CHF vs. 71,500 CHF for the RG. Subtracting the VAT and factoring in the current exchange rate, 5170P is around $80K? Out of my price range, but not far off from what you're suggesting.

Seeing how dismal the resale values are on the gold 5170s, I'll just wait a few years to revisit the 5170P.

The pricing of a watch limits its customer base. Over the past few years, customers purchasing $75K+ USD Patek watches have decreased. I suspect the mainland Chinese, who used to make their purchases in the US/EU/rest of Asia, are not purchasing many Patek watches at this price level and it has shifted the supply/demand curve for the rest of the customers.

Sounds right. How about the design of some key references? And I’m not talking about 5170 which I find quite attractive. Nevertheless all modern watches are generally down significantly in the past years sadly

Seems like lots of models are in a bubble the last 5 months. Nautilus models. Some APs. Milles. Seems dress watches are cheap, sports watches are suddenly rare and expensive.

Good point. Very strange market behavior. The nautilus phenomenon is unbelievable.... I want a nautilus as much as the other guy, but come on! Anyway, having a good relationship with your AD and staying the course to collect what you like is probably the best cure for the madness

Same here, but in R. (I am a fan of manual wind chronos, though)

Demand for sport models makes total sense to me. People are dressing much more causally today. In the past I would never be in a nice restaurant in jeans on a Saturday night with my wife who is dressed to the nines. Now great jeans & a sport jacket is the norm. I find myself hardly ever wearing my "dress watches." JMHO.

One of the US dealers also offered me 5170p last week. Also spotted one in Auckland yesterday. This piece is in trouble imo. Just like 5960/1a. It somewhat becomes unwanted unless deep discount is given.

Besides nautilus and some aquanaut watches, patek is really having a difficulty now. Not sure the reason they cut nautilus production is because they want to shift people to be interested in other references, not just these few models. People mainly ask for simple nautilus or aquanaut making other models go unsold and over supply.

add the 5524 to the nautilus/aquanaut high-demand list, all the rest is freely available, not minute repeaters of course.
i saw a 5960G (blue dial, 2017 wach) in the paris salon yesterday, freely available as well. wasn't too thrilled, it is off my list as well.
the shortage now has shifted to rolex sports models, they are all hard to come by currently.

I visited the London Salon recently. I was told there was no big waiting list for the 5170P and if I wanted one they could get one for me fairly soon
