Govberg asking US$37.5k for LNIB Blue 5711. What is going on?!

I just noticed this and, honestly, can't believe the asking price. This watch does not have a Tiffany dial, and even if it did, isn't this price insane?! Has anybody seen a higher asking price for a second hand 5711?

There's a sucker born everyday, but there's no way they are getting that price. It's not even phucking double sealed Unless I'm missing something

They typically add a premium, probably due to their status as a huge AD. 5711s are in la la land pricing. I felt beaten in the groin when I paid 23.5 for mine two years ago. I would not even entertain over retail.

Seems Patek is copying Rolex Daytona model. I feel bad for anyone who buys at these prices.

That's amazing! I wonder if they're actually changing hands for close to that figure. I just checked 5167 prices and no question those asking prices are stronger than they were six months ago. Not nearly as dramatic as the 5711 pricing, but definitely an increase. I wonder if the insane 5711 market is driving up 5167 prices. Not necessarily the same buyer, but both are basically the entry-level PP sport models, and I can see buyers who simply can't or won't pay the going rate for a 5711 substituting an Aquanaut.

You're some kind of special if you would pay $37.5k for a 5711 (which at the end of the day is a three handed SS sports watch)

Sorry to disappoint but punters are paying these prices, if you want the piece for the summer whats the problem, use it for 6 months and move it on. It's a great piece with a cast iron residual - ok you will loose a few thousand but to these guys that is nothing!

I have also seen the 5712's rise recently. Takuya has one for 36. Easy choice for me.

I've seen some pre-owned examples for sale on the forum in the upper $29k range.

This is getting insane, I talked about it with my grey dealer friend in France, he says they are advertized at these prices, maybe 30-33k in euros, but he doesn't think they go for
more than 28-29, sure maybe a few ultra rich guys with 400-500k watches think "what watch could I wear this summer?" And for him 20 or 40k is change, but can't believe they sell for so high as we see here, you can find amazing second hand watches in the 35-40k region, I paid a little more than 21 for mine, would not have gotten for 25 or more

I saw this yesterday.

They had one a month ago, 2017 model, for £27,750. Thats an increase of £2k in a month.

I think watchfinder sell people's watches but take a % cut. I can't see the prices going up much more.

In General the prices listed online by Gobverg are out of reality, I seen other examples with insane prices as well. So I wouldn't use Govberg as a realistic market reference. But I bet once in a while there is someone with no clue about watches that goes for it, and that alone probably is enough for them to justify this kind of listings.

They can ask anything they like.

What they actually sell it for is a very different matter.

Was in nyc diamond district yesterday, wanted to try on 5712 and 5726. Stopped in several grey dealers and they did not have either piece. I was told the asking price when they get them roughly 35-38k for the 5711 and 36k on the 5712. Seems like the limited supply ( whether real or created) has worked on driving these crazy prices. Curious...is there an increased demand across the Patek line

They will take 15-20% the price if asked. Trust me. This is how they operate.

Agree. It's simple free market capitalism. Ultimately it's the consumer who sets the price.

Govberg's not a new kid on the block. They're an established brick and mortar operation that's well respected and quite successful. Unless it's somehow an oversight on their part, I'd assume they know what they're doing.

Unlike most of us here, they do this for a living.

No just the nautilus. I think maybe jewelers are buying them up and covering them in shitty diamonds and selling them in LA. Just a guess.

Yup, but seems dealers over there have smelled the green...

It doesn't take much when supply is so restricted, one dealer takes a punt on higher prices, gets a sale/or a shill, others see it and move their prices up, and if they act as a monopoly, that's the new market level, esp aimed at rich/young rich people who won't wait for an AD.
