I'm a sports watch guy so 5990 gets my vote. Will be eagerly waiting for updates.

For a first Patek and possibly a last, I would recommend a 5711 blue.

The models you have chosen are complex choices for a number of reasons and if you are not drawn to any single one of them it leads me to believe you may not know exactly what you are looking for... with a 5711, you can't go wrong.

I like them in the order you listed them. None would be a first choice for me.

Will vote for B as it is on my "list". However, have been flirting with the idea that C might be a more sporty option (given the dial and strap) but am yet to see it in the metal.

A is a cool watch, but personally I much prefer the discontinued 5980/1A or the ever so alluring 5711/5712 with blue dial.

Only clue offered is "First Patek".

Short answer: Choose in the order offered. (I am guessing you put them forth in (at least subconscious) the order you prefer.

Long answer:

1. Top of current range sport watch(water resist): but not classic case size and function for 57XX series.

2. Solid current midrange Patek dress watch: Annual function invented by Patek, modern classic layout.

3. The "in-betweener" of the three: avoid for first unless you just love it and want a quasi- sporty - dress style watch.

My vote would be ABC in that order as well. The 5990 is top tier nautilus and absolutely gorgeous!
