Is this a good trade? Ceramic Daytona + BLNR + $3K for Patek 5205

I had to move this over here from the Rolex forum to hear your opinions.

"My brand new white ceramic Daytona + 6 month old BLNR + $3K, for a heavily polished Patek 5205g on tang?"

No because I wouldn’t want any heavily polished Patek. Period.

Value-wise the trade does not sound unfair when looking at what each of the pieces in question typically is offered at on Chrono24. Don't know how bad the "heavy polishing" issue is?

Whether you want to trade two hard to get (at retail) sports watches for a dress watch (albeit a very nice one) is another matter. Do you have other sports watches in your collection? The 5205 IMHO would need a tougher more sporty companion for the weekends etc.

Yes, I would do the trade if the BLNR and the Daytona were brand new

The heavily polished aspect seems like a non starter. That aside, I prefer the two you already have

Forget the polished watch. You won't be happy with it.

Man getting a “heavily polished” watch is not good. I returned an AP I got because after I got it I realized it was over polished. Remember the watches life is over when it can’t be polished anymore. I’d keep the Rolex’s and wait for a better example Patek.

The 5205g is beautiful and its a PP. Also close value wise, but its a no from me. Both your rolexes are awesome. Maybe trade 1 rolex and more cash. The "heavily polished" thing also makes the deal questionable.

Terrible trade. Just save and wait for a better opportunity Patek. Ceramic Daytona will only go up in value.

It’s a fair point. I have a 718, BLNR, and a 16710 and it does kind of look like bathroom tile, lol!

No way my friend for the heavily polished Patek....

Have you try on a Patek Philippe with strap.....??

They wear & feel different than a Rolex.....

If you like the way the Patek Philippe wear then go for it but not this heavily polished Patek that you posted.....

Best Regards,
Tony

I would not even consider it. You already have two awesome watches. I have the exact same Daytona and have owned the BLNR. What would be the point?

I have a 5205R and spend lots of time staring at that face and the one you posted does look a bit soft to me, you can tell it’s been polished as it just doesn’t have the crispness it should - which would make the deal an immediate no.

That being said, the BLNR really doesn’t do much for me, and the Daytona is cool but no way near the same league as a beautifully finished PP AC, so a good condition 5205 would make the deal a sure thing.
