Grand Cayman - Where To Stay

Decided to go to Grand Cayman while out of work and I've read several members have visited before. Looking for opinions on where to stay and what to do versus what to skip on the island in terms of activities.

If you have a good or bad experience, would love to hear from you.

I love GC!

We really enjoyed the Westin. It is expensive, but worth it.

Not a whole lot to do, the island is very small. We were there for 10 days, rented a car for a few days to see the island. Didn’t get to stingray city due to windy weather, but that’s worth a visit. Plenty of small shops in town. Seven mile beach is absolutely breathtaking. Plenty of great bars and restaurants everywhere. Especially close to the Westin.

All in all one of my favorites in the Caribbean.

I’ve stayed in the Ritz on Seven Mile Beach- good location and the hotel is solid. We spent most of the time on the beach and went to several restaurants/bars in the same area. The beach and water are fantastic- enjoy your vacation.

We stayed at the Westin Casuarina over 20 years ago. It’s a beautiful hotel next door to Governor’s Beach. We enjoyed Grand Cayman a lot, but it was very expensive. In 1997, a week there cost us over $8,000.

Kimpton Seafire or the Ritz. Ritz is traditional, Seafire is modern and much newer. Ritz had a recent reno though. Both very good locations and service. Dine at Luca and Blue by Eric Ripert, there is lots of good food on Cayman and everyone is correct about the money, its expensive.

FYI Kirk is the Rolex AD, they have a couple locations and a small spot in the Ritz. Stock was decent last time I was there and the salespeople were very nice.

But it's really all about Seven Mile Beach in the Caymans. Enjoy!

We stayed at the Sunshine Suites Resort, not the fanciest but super clean and right across the street from 7 mile beach, don’t forget to go to George Town for some shopping and check out Deckers for the lobster

This is just over the road from Westin. SS has a great restaurant with awesome burgers! So well worth a visit either way!

This. Stayed at the Ritz myself last summer, nice property but seems a bit dated to me. Stopped by the Kimpton Seafire on a visit last month and looked great, may stay there next time.

We just got back from there on Sunday.

***Guaranteed best bang for the buck is Sunshine Suites!!***

It’s the sister hotel of The Westin and you have full access to all Westin amenities at 1/3 the price. We can’t wait to go back! Stingray City is a must if it’s not closed due to wind/waves....They shut it down on our way back as the wind had picked up.

I also picked up my new Rolex SD43 at Kirk Freeport at Bayshore Mall. Great people there!!

Pic was taken at a cabana at the Westin.

Stayed at the Marriott 2 years ago and loved it. Sort of a beach house feel. Also best Sunday brunch on the island.

We stay at The Sunset House regularly but my wife and I dive and it's a place FOR divers. If that's something you are into or want to learn.

I honeymooned there with my wife and stayed at the Marriott - we aboslutely loved it. Thankfully had Mariott points to use otherwise an already very expensive trip would have been unaffordable.

Definitely do stingray city / snorkeling. We rented a car one day and drove the entire island, stopping at a couple beaches and the popular Starfish point along the way.

The restaurants are absolutely amazing - enjoy!!!

Grand Old House on the ocean is awesome. Amazing chef and a wine list that’s out of this world.

I have stayed at Marriott, Westin and Ritz. I prefer Westin. Ritz is good for kids, but very spread out with many rooms are across street from beach. Sting Ray City is a lot of fun if you want to swim or dive with sting rays.
