The core watches of my collection actually fit pretty well into this hypothetical. Using actual prices paid on the 2nd hand market rounded to the nearest $50:
Everyday/Beater: Seiko SKX009 -$250 Dress: Vintage Omega Seamaster from 1948 - $750 Complicated: Omega Speedmaster 145.022 -$3250 Flex: Tudor Pelagos Blue - $3250 Flex: Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 38.5mm - $2850 Total = $10,300. So a bit over budget, but close! |

Only five watches?
Only $10,000? I'm not a wealthy man, but I cannot abide such restrictions.

Everyday/Beater Watch: Tudor Pelagos (Blue Dial) - £3,440
Dress Watch: Nomos Tangente 101: £1,460 Complication: Mr Jones Watch, The Last Laugh - £295 Flex: Nomos Club Amsterdam - £1,300 Flex: Scurfa Diver 1 - £220 Total: £6,715 Lots of cash left - so would add a 6th watch, probably a Tudor BB58 or a decent Sinn.

Like a lot of you said, I'll take a Rolex (maybe a DJ) and get a G-shock as a daily. I tried wearing other brands/cheaper watches and I couldn't wait to get them off at the end of the day. Only exceptions were the G-shock and my speedy but it doesn't give me the same feel as a Rolex.

Impossible for me to stick to this.
Explorer is a must + GS or BB58 or aqua terra or zenith. Already over. I can live with a ton of inexpensive watches but love my Sub and Explorer too much If I musttttt Everyday: BB58ln 4K Dress: SARB033 800 Complication: snowflake or similar GS with PR 4K Flex: Smiths Everest : 400 Flex: seiko alpinist 800ish Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Prices based on MSRP and without tax...
Everyday/Beater Watch: Tudor BB58 on strap (3375) Dress Watch: Rolex OP36 (5600) Complication: Apple watch (499) Flex: G-Shock "Casioak" (99) Flex: Seiko SARB033 (399) Total: 9,972 Quite honestly I think an OP and BB58 could easily make a great 2 watch collection at below 10k. The other watches are niceties for swapping things up. |

I could do this from watches that I already own and would only need to add a complication:
Everyday/Beater Watch: BB36 Dress Watch: Rolex 6694 Complication: Sinn 356 Flex: BB58 Flex: Longines Hydroconquest |

Love this thread...
By the way I was able to grab a Casio GA2100 Casioak in all black at Macys. It was 99 bucks and was able to use a mailer coupon for 20% off. It wasn't on the website but they often have a couple in stock in store. Check your local Macys! |
