I will cede the point that they’re distinct to someone who recognizes the brand. Perhaps my wallet is louder than I suspect?

Hmmmm...

big fan of bottega veneta. Their leather gets better with use and has held up very well for me.

I’m considering getting another Goyard cardholder. I had a grey one and sold it a few years ago. The sky blue color is really nice. But I may just stick with my sterling silver Tiffany money clip...

I'm very surprised that most people are buying designer wallets, rather than going bespoke. There are so many good craftsmen around these days, and they will produce a truly unique and to-spec item using exotic materials you could only dream that a designer house may use.

If anyone wants any recs beyond what's here already (Chester Mox, Ashland etc.), there are two I'd be happy to PM but they're smaller orgs and I'd need to look up the details. Also, be prepared to wait.

I like Anya Hindmarch, they're high quality Italian craftsmanship, and they offer bespoke customization options. Her brand is better known for womens accessories but I own a wallet and a card case and think they're great for the price.

Good idea. I think I paid $425 for my grey one in late 2016. They are $475 now.

I don’t have any designer brand cardholders, just cheapies from Tumi and Bosca. I still may pull the trigger on the Goyard light blue one. I’ll probably get it from Bergdorf Goodman. I’m also looking at some cool cardholders from Fendi and Prada.

Mine is the one that folds in half very similar to the LV model everyone seems to buy. God I think it was like 700+ when I bought it in Chicago like 3/4 years back.

Ah yes, the pocket organizer. I only do simple cardholders. And money clips.

Just picked up a goyard bag for my wife. I reached out to goyard “distant sales” and they had an associate from Bergdorf email/call me. I paid over the phone and they shipped it overnight.
Let me know if you want her contact info

Can someone explain the Goyard hype to me? Never knew about it until moving to NYC, where it has a lot of love.

Personally, I love that they last such a long time, they’re not as common as Louis Vuitton or Hermès and I really like that they are all handpainted. I suppose, for me, it has less to do with the appearance than the actual quality. I think for many it is the exclusivity and the status symbol? I would be lying if I said it wasn’t neat to have something that’s exclusive, but for me it is more about the quality.

Yes sir! It’s very noticeable when you feel the texture of the wallet. Kind of blew my mind when I found out, too.

You ought to also try tobacco sometime - I hear it is a pretty good smoke but won't get you high.

I love Goyard. And I can't believe how durable they are. I thought they would fall aport but they really hold up.

I transitioned from a full sized wallet to a mini wallet, I need a wallet because the wife wants me to save all receipts so she can reconcile and I put them I the wallet.

I agree. Especially the first time you feel their leather. I have the card holder and was very surprised by it. It’s not smooth and soft and supple like other brands. Very stiff and does not have a leathery scent. The painting makes it very pebbled. Mine looks brand new and it’s about two years old. Fantastic.

They are not hand painted anymore. I think that stopped 6-7 years ago. They use a grid type thing and spray paint through it.

I had no idea. They’re advertising on the website that they are all handpainted. That’s a bummer!

That's beautiful & so much prettier in person! Thanks for sharing. I love their ceramics especially this red one. The photo does it zero justice, lighter irl.
