Un Prophet is a masterpiece. It’s a French film and is the best I’ve seen, ever. I would challenge anyone to check out this masterpiece of a film... they filmed it in an actual prison...
Sicario affected me as well.. complete opposites in film making. While not my favorite movie, The Drop has the best acting I’ve ever seen. Hardy and gandolfini.. My last pick may be cheesy, but The Quiet Man is among my favs as well, and I’m not really into John Wayne. This move for whatever reason relaxes me... Valhalla Rising isn’t for everyone, but it will absolutely affect you mentally if you can last it out. Afternoons with marguerite is also amazing.. Among my recent enjoyable experiences, I liked Midsommar and anything this guy makes... I’ll check out with much interest. (Ari aster) .. his other film, Hereditary, was fun as well.. midsommar is basically a wicker man ripoff (no, not the terrible Nicolas cage remake)... but aster took it much further.. and it’s beautifully filmed and written absolutely stunningly well.. |

Some great movies here. I'm surprised my 6th choice had I had one didn't make anyone's list so far. "Gangs of New York".

Once Upon a Time in America
The Shawshank Redemption Scarface Saving Private Ryan Apocalypse Now So hard for 5. I have to mention The Good Shepherd, Gladiator, Braveheart, Lawrence of Arabia, Schindler's List, Lord of the Rings, Platoon, The Good the Bad and the Ugly. Cult classic mention goes to The Beastmaster And of course there's comedies.

Indeed thought Bogey did well in that atypical role for him, saw the African Queen recently and he and Kate Hepburn are really terrific in that, a deserved Oscar win, and Holden's too in Stalag, had to be at his very best to beat Montgomery Clift in From Here to Eternity that year.

Sure, you probably have a cousin on L Street, too EVERYOBODY has a cousin on L Street. Wahlberg's character had it right when he said you come in from the Noth Shore on weekends and stat drahppin ya aahhrrs . Sad part is I've lived all over the US and overseas and my Boston accent is all screwed up. And I do like the choices - reminds me that I have not seen The Verdict in years.

I’m not a huge movie guy but I recently watched “The art of racing in the rain” and I really enjoyed it. It is also a book so you can read that before watching the movie
Also if you’re into watches check out the main character’s wrist!!!! |

She read the book; her boss is a surgeon that actually races cars and "highly recommended" that she read it. She actually loved it, even though it wasn't her typical genre. I'm not too proud to say I teared up a little at the end of the movie; it really hit me in all the feels. |

The Verdict remains one of my favorites of all time. His closing summation to the jury is a magnificent piece of cinema. Have you seen The Road to Perdition? Another Newman gem.

Milo Ventimiglia, is his name. He is in the TV show "This is Us" and is absolutely phenomenal. He wears a vintage Seiko in that show, very fitting of his Vietnam Vet character.
