I have only felt comfortable wearing 40M Rolex’s (both dress and sport) for the past few years. When I try on one of my 36s, I would immediately reject it. What a bizarrely small size I thought That is until about two months ago, I had to dress conservatively and felt breaking out the old SS DJ 36 thinking it would be well suited for the event. Needless to say my eyes have completely and totally adjusted to the 36M size, it feels very cool and confident. I’m a big fan. Friends and coworkers have remarked on it and never have I heard a word regarding one of my 40 sports models... not that that’s something I look for, but it supports my hypothesis.

36mm is the classic DJ size IMHO, especially for dressier occasions.

I have never bonded with the larger DJ even with an almost 8” wrist.

36 size will always be a great size for most!

The 36mm DJ is perfect. Anything else isn't.

I cant wear 36 DJs,bracelets to short .On the DJIIs and DJ41 at max length is just right for my wrist .

Ahhhh! I'm not alone then!!! I've been wearing a Midsize YM (the girly 35mm) all over the weekend... its the most comfortable watch!!! I've got several sports Rolex and Tudors, so was worried it was too small!

Yes when you first put a smaller watch on 36 / 35mm after wearing 40+ it just feels very wrong... but after awhile and your eyes adjust it feels like its part of you! Totally surprised by this!!! Slips under a shirt with ease, looks more elegant, sits nicer... I thought I was odd for liking this!

I appreciate the looks of the classic 36mm in the DJ and DD. They do not work for my 7.5-7.75 wrist and I have chosen to go with larger watches.

I had a Day Date in the early 80s and I’ve tried on a few when they went to 40 and 41 and can’t wrap my mind around those sizes for that watch. Hard to explain since I have other watches that are larger.

Nobody in real like cares if you’re wearing a 36 instead of a 41. It’s only an issue on the internet. I have 7.25” wrists, which is big by TRF standards, and I think it looks great on me. Definitely not too small.

You're definitely not alone. I bought two 36 Rolex watches for myself after buying my wife a 1601 which I put on for a day and liking it.

My daily is a 44mm Pam, but 36mm Datejust and slightly smaller 1625 also feel just right. Depends on what I’m wearing.

I remember when a 36 seemed big. My first was a date model 34mm I believe. My wife wears a DJ36 now. I can pull it off but I'm so used to my DJ41 that the 36 doesn't work for me anymore.

Same here, I find my DJ36 looks great and feels great. Saw an AD wearing the DJ41 on very skinny wrists and thought it looked ridiculous, and couldn't have felt comfortable... I also have a GMT-II and the 40mm is fine, but anything bigger, for me, just isn't comfortable.

I think having a watch that is wider than your wrist is just innately uncomfortable...

For me, 36mm is the perfect size, but I have a small wrist. The odd thing is that I've never been able to get comfortable with the vintage pieces that are 33-35. The lug to lug and bezel make a big difference too.

My first Rolex in the 90s was a DJ which was 36MM at the time, then sold it for my Bluesy. I tried the new 41MM when I wanted to reacquire a DJ but ended up getting the 36MM because it looked so much better on me.

I have 8 inch wrists, 36mm isn't going to happen for me. It would be like wearing a shirt that's too tight or pants that are too short, it just wouldn't be a good look.

So I tried wearing my old Dj36 for a week and I can honestly tell you that it’s still way too small on my 7.5 inch wrist. I even had comments about why was i wearing my wife’s watch lol. But to be fair she has the same model in a 31mm.
