Is this rolex really worth 64x more than this Seiko?

I love both watches but just putting them side to side... is the OP36 really worth 64x the Seiko 5? Oh and the Seiko has a display back.

The Rolex is better. The question I’m thinking about on this lovely Saturday is whether it’s 64x better give the price differential.

I ask myself the same question Jonathan ... the fun factor with these Seikos is hard to ignore at the price.

It's all perceived value... Whether it is or not I like the
look of the OP more. Price differential ? probably not...

Yes. 65 times.

If you go to 66 you may be getting into a debate................no, 66 too

But what you really need to do is define what "worth" means.

When I bought this 6119 from the original owner two decades ago he told me had it for 40 years and never serviced it. I took care of that and no need to say it runs great. So I'd say no.

Only when it approaches 69 times. That's when you're really getting screwed.

I voted 'no' since I think that SNXS is a good watch for the price.

SNXS versus 67-02 might be a fun battle.

Worth is a highly subjective term

After buying several Seikos in the $500 to $1000 range did I notice how high a Rolex must be marked up.

Sixteen responses.

Guess what. Someone has already run the ultimate poll and given the entire world the opportunity to vote!

It's called the Free Market.

(Results are running "Yes" strongly last I checked).

To me, yes. And I like seiko and rolex.

How many seikos are worth your 5711? Send me your address and I’ll send you that amount of seiko 5s and a paid return label for the nautilus lol.

But honestly, I get your rhetorical question. The non-mathematic theory of relatively at play here.

Lol. I’m not picky. Anything that says Patek, regular or crooked stamped lines to follow, will do just fine in my books

I own 2 Seikos (Cocktail Time green and a SARW041 Baby Snowflake) and they are amazing watches for the money. They are so much fun. Plus, I don't worry EVER about wearing them anywhere.

It is all according to who you ask. There are some people who believe both of them are not worth the cost.

Is yours sunburst blue dial? I have the sunburst grey and I love it. Very comfortable and sleek on the wrist.

I voted no...but there’s a huge caveat.

If you have a mobile phone, then neither are worth the price.

We buy watches not because of their financial value proposition — but for their emotional value proposition.

That means 65x probability you'll see Seiko 5 in a hundred watch wearing individuals you meet.

The word “worth” when talking watches is a tricky one. Since you are asking this question, I’d say the answer for you is “no”.
