Submariner Too Big for Wrist

Does anyone else find the submariner too big for there wrist? Like many of you I have always wanted a sub. However after trying a few one I can help but feel like they are way too big. I didnt have a chance to take a pic of the ND Sub I wanted but here is a full gold sub on my wrist.

Such a bummer

It’s a gold diver. It’s supposed to look large and conspicuous.

I reckon it looks fine.

I’m the same...

Stick to a vintage sub or BB58 for your diver. And a DD/Daytona for your PM, they don’t have the maxi case and will fit much better

Naah, the cam is playing tricks.
Difficult to imagine how anyone has too small wrist for a sub.

Only you can say what is too big for you, but watches always look larger in photos. Always. Try taking a photo similar to this with the camera as far away as possible (or just find a full length mirror):

you must have a pretty small wrist. If it's bigger than maybe 6.5", it shouldn't feel too big (unless maybe you're used to really small watches)

Take a picture from further away, or using a mirror. Close ups always make it look bigger than it is too.

A lot of it is personal taste... And if YOU think it looks too big and bulky, then you probably always will.

I personally don't like any of the 6 digit references as I've always thought they just looked too big and bulky on my wrist, just not a fan of that look. I've owned 2 different 6 digit references through the years and parted ways with both. They fit fine, the lugs had plenty of room and didn't hang off the wrist, but I just didn't like the way they looked on me.

5-digit references are your answer.

I think Subs are too small. All depends on your preference and your wrist size. I think it looks fine on you. On my wrist it would look small.

no.

millions of people who represent an enormous range of sizes cannot be wrong.

the sub is the perfect size.

How small is your wrist ? I have just under a 7'' wrist and a 40mm sub looks/feels like a womans watch on me. I currently wear a SD43 which I think is an absolute perfect fit.

I personally think that looks fine on you.

I think it looks great and love the size. Perhaps you need a pre ceramic model 16610. The older models don't have a maxi case and feel smaller.

BTW that photo I posted above is a wrist that is 6.75" at most and typically under that.

Looks great - maybe try wearing it a little higher on the wrist? I have a 6" wrist and while my Sub is far from a small watch on me, its definitely doable.

I'm on my phone but if you check out my thread I posted a couple days ago, you can see some pics I posted.

If you have to ask...

Looks kind of big in my book, but if you like the model/look/wrist presence - why not?

Too big on you, and on me with my 6.5" wrists. It's why I wear a Steinhart 39MM diver, doesn't sound like much of a difference but it is.

Rolex DJ comes in different sizes and isn't one size fits all, why should the Sub?

I have 6" wrists and think 40mm is spot on for a diver. Anything less on a dive watch makes it look dainty and feminine IMO (e.g. look at the 37mm midsize divers from other brands, or even yacht masters).

Looks great to me. As long as it's comfortable and you feel good wearing it, I would purchase it. I was deciding between a DJ 36 and 41 and went with the 41 -- I am very happy I got a larger piece.
