I don't need a dress watch very often. This Dornbluth can be worn casually but if I put it on a smooth black strap is works as a dress watch. I'm talking a suit at an evening wedding...not a tuxedo, which I haven't had the occasion to wear since 1996.

Anyway interested to know what you folks own. For now the only dress watch that I could wear daily is from a micro brand call DuFrane on brown leather strap. But maybe the Rolex president or Daytona will be in the future some day.
Why has most things on forum lately all come down to £££$$$€€€, if its expensive does that make the person wearing better than a person wearing a least expensive watch.

I've not got a watch I wouldn't wear in a dress situation. As most know the category was destroyed by a fictional character wearing a Sub in a movie in a dress situation; that was in the mid sixties and there's been a lot of water under the bridge since then.

That fictional character wore a tool watch for reason. Suggesting he destroyed the dress watch as a category is a gross generalization. A Sub did not look good with a suit then and and it does not today.

Sorry but this is total rubbish, you can wear any watch with a suit irrespective of whether that suit is for an upmarket super formal occasion or with a suit for work (if you wear one nowadays).

I fully understand that some may prefer to wear a gorgeously slim, precious metal 3 handed watch on a strap to that super posh formal occasion but not everyone has that option and quite frankly it doesn't matter if you don't.

Wear what you want to what ever it is that you are attending and enjoy wearing it. There are no rules.

This was fast ... LOL

You missed the point which was that I disagree that some fictional character wearing a Sub destroyed the category in the 1960s.

Other than that you are stating the obvious and I fully agree with your post.

I don't know about anyone else, but I acquired my FPJ in 2016, well before the brand exploded in popularity. I got it secondhand for about half its original RRP (it was discontinued, and had been languishing in a shop window for several months). I bought it because I like it. Same with my Nautilus, which is over 11 years old.

Since then, market forces which I didn't forsee, and which are outwith my control in any case, have altered the values somewhat...

I don't have an everyday dress watch, but I do have a GS sbgw253 as my dedicated dress watch.
Nice and clean with a pearescent white dial and a nice thin black strap.

What is the most expensive everyday dress watch you own?

Well if I were wearing a tux daily I'd still likely wear the Platona.

Who cares how much it costs, could hold sentimental value,or you might just like wearing it!
A G shock worn with a dinner suit is fine if you are happy with it,too much emphasis on values these days, buy what you like, wear it when you want and enjoy it.
If people judge you by the value of your watch, car,or whatever, they aren't worth worrying with.

And that is a totally subjective perspective. The other obvious perspective is, how can a "Dress Watch" be an "Everyday Watch?" That means that if it's an everyday watch it can be worn as a dress watch. Ultimately this is gibberish.

Fortunately/unfortunately I don’t own or wear any suits , so a dress watch doesn’t quite work on me. Maybe when I grow older!
