Agree. Maybe end of high school if he's mature and off to school or starting a business. Otherwise wait until he appreciates it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Love that as you'd have to print that super tiny. Great gesture. Let's hope mechanical watches are still popular rwentyvyears grom now, lol! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

This is awesome! Congratulations on your son most importantly and the watch! I picked up my favorite Rolex (Pepsi) this year (month ago) and my son was born this year as well, and looking at having his birthdate engraved with his initials as well!
You will know when the time is right, no need to worry what that date/event will be, you’ll just know. Cheers! |

I bought a steel daytona for my first fathers day. Plan to hand it down to my son on his first Father's Day.

Got the call for a birth year watch (for son)
Looks great - I have had the same dilemma as I also purchased a birth year watch for my son (2014 SD4k 116600) - am leaning towards giving to him on his first day at his full time job. I might even engrave and service it beforehand!!
In the meantime am making memories with it and ensuring that it is visible in family photos so the memories last. Was planning on gifting him less valuable watches from my collection beforehand so he gets used to stepping up and allows me to gauge if he is passionate about watches too (he currently has 2 in his collection - a Swatch and a Fitbit). Omega Seamaster at 16, Speedmaster at university.. otherwise maybe he only wants the new-fangled brain-implanted communication device from Apple that all his friends have!! He’ll get the others in my will.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Got the call for a birth year watch (for son)
Congratulations. I suggest evaluating if your children will take an interest in watches first.
I’m trying to foster mine by explaining and letting her play with my watches. To the point she’s even done a pick up (she’s too young to size a bracelet still). Wore my daughters birth year watch to my daughters birth (it was purchased a week or so before) and so hoping she will love it one day. Hers was a 116519LN which. isn’t one to gift lightly. Engraving is a great idea as it adds to the sentiment. And takes away the resale motivation. Congratulations on the new child and best wishes! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Love this. I did the exact same thing this year when my son was born. Engraving and all. The right time will reveal itself as they show (or don’t show!) interest in the watch(es). In the meantime, wear it in good health! Cheers!
