As much as some hate it, that cyclops is a must for me on a Rolex. But the correct answer is both.

Sub, unless the date function is needed (never for me). Aesthetically. the cyclops is not something that I like. When I think of a mechanical watch, its about metal, gems, and lubricants - not something glued on.

Get the date if you need a date. I look at the date on my watch all day as I do work so incredibly practical for me.

I have always said sub, but after owning the GMT and now the SubLV, I say sub date. I like having the date function and the cyclops is the most popular unique feature of a Rolex.
