Hi All,

I was talking to the Panerai salesman in Harrods yesterday. He said all ETA model were being discontinued for the in house movement. So the models like the 111 would no longer by continued. All movements would how 8 days. Price increase was going to be £700.

Can anyone else verify this?

My AD was also telling me this and he said in a year or so the eta movt will be discontinued

This may border on heresy but I've been happy with a 111F as my one and only PAM.

I can't manage to find a 507 or 382 at MSRP so I think I'm done w Panerai unless the make a bronze 44mm Luminor in the future.

Thinks it's gonna happen, but I reckon they will keep the entry point watches 000, 005 & 380's with an ETA movement

As much as I'm not a fan of the soaring prices of this brand, I'd say it's about time. Getting a bit ridiculous to be charging $6k+ for a watch with the most basic 6497 movement in it. I used to be a big fan of the 005/111 until I realized I was paying upwards of $5k for a watch with the exact same movement as my $350 Steinhart pilot. If I'm going to spend $6k anyway, I want something in-house.

At this price point, people want in-house movements and I think Panerai has done a good job with their new movements. I haven't seen them in person, but from pictures and videos, they look very nice. If Panerai wants to be taken more seriously (and it's pretty clear that they do), this is a good move for them.

Hmmm wonder about the 40mm models like the 048 and similar... I'm sure they'll probably discontinue them in lieu of the 42mm Luminors.

Its not only panerai but other very expensive brands like hublot that use eta in their big bang models which according to me ia absolute loot, they shove a cheap eta and sell watches for 20-30k , iwc also uses eta in some models i think
