Any love for JLC Tribute to Deepsea?

Not critical of your love for the watch - I’m sure it’s a decent watch, though.

But I can’t find any element that evokes DSSD outside of the dial’s color being black. A 12 hr. bezel, no date, twin crowns, strap instead of bracelet and unknown depth rating makes it hard to see any DSSD parallels.

Lots of love from me. The "twin crowns" are for the alarm function and I think a mechanical alarm on a newer watch is A+ in my book. Of course there isn't a specified depth rating because most "desk divers" aren't going to take their $12,000 watch scuba diving. I have to believe that 99% of sea-dweller owners don't take their watches below 200 feet of water even though they paid a premium for a watch that can do so.

I wasn't sure if I'd like the "American face" version but its really grown on me and the fact that fewer than 400 people in the world have the same watch as me is pretty cool too.

damn! i am looking for this for the longest time but its super limited.

i guess not alot can appreciate the beauty of a JLC diver.

the alarm function can be dated but damn its cool given the fact its mechanical.

but DSSD vs This? lol it's a totally different. the name tribute to deepsea has not relevance to a DSSD at all haha

I did misunderstand your term “Deepsea” - now know you were referring to JLC’s Deepsea.

I had the opportunity to try one of these on (Euro dial, my favourite) a few years ago when you could still get them new. Have loved it ever since. Wish I’d bought it then as they’re super rare now.

OP, how does it wear thickness wise? I have been looking at that piece and their chronograph version as well. My one concern was it's thickness. What is your opinion on the thickness?

I find it wears slimmer than the appx 13.5mm thickness, it also has a nice sloped bezel. Easy to wear with a dress shirt.

for a diver and with a alarm complication, it's pretty slim. slimmer than my other JLC Polaris Date

I’ve seen a few (both Euro and US) come up for sale on WatchRecon over the past month or so, so they’re out there and come up for sale from time to time.

They're definitely not hard to find (either dial variant). It does look like the prices are slowly climbing though.

It is a very elegant dive watch. Have yet to try to take it into the water. It’s meant to be water resistant to 100 m but without a screwdown crown (for both crowns), I’m reluctant to take the risk.
