Sending in new watch with stickers for warranty work

Just curious, has anyone sent in a new Rolex with stickers to RSC for warranty work? My cyclops is a little crooked so I want to get it fixed but want to keep the stickers on for personal reasons. Would RSC remove all the stickers before returning the watch?

They might if not asked to leave them on.

I presume this will be warranty work and no cost estimate will be sent to you before work commences.

Make sure to include your wishes as a pre-condition to proceed. I’d also call the RSC ahead of sending to be sure your wishes will be honored.

I had my 116520 Daytona serviced when it was still under warranty. It still had stickers on the case back and clasp. Rolex removed them all.

C'mon give the guy a break. My son keeps the film on his phones to forestall the
inevitable first scratch as long as possible. There's a scientific term for that but my

Wait until first service. I went through the same thing. New watch sent in to RSC for a crooked cyclops, came back with the edge of the inner case (above the rehaut) all scratched up.

AD replaced my watch with a new one, but now I’m stuck with a misaligned rehaut and dust underneath the crystal. I won’t be sending it to RSC until I have to though...lesson learned.

They'll remove the stickers. A Rolex watchmaker won't service a watch with stickers in place since everything has to be kept clean and dirt/dust-free.

They will remove the stickers.

Whats more, there is a ULTRA HIGH probablility they will also scratch/dent/leave handling marks on the case/caseback/lugs/bracelet/etc. Ive never seen a new watch sent to RSC come back looking the same...only worse...sometimes much worse.

You've spent thousands of dollars for a watch and want to keep the stickers on?

How off center is the lens that requires a reset? Why not exchange your new Rolex, with all stickers attached, for a similar Rolex that has a centered cyclops and all stickers? You know, an even-up exchange. See if Rolex will deal and let us know how you make out. :-)

If they remove the stickers, which they will probably do, hopefully it's after the tools touch the watch. This way the stickers may help to protect the case from the inevitable bench marks that it will come back with. Just saying....

I have the proper tools and when I open up a watch or remove a bracelet surely nobody will be able to point out any tool marks with the naked eye.
Highly unlikely that a Rolex trained RSC watchmaker with skills x 1000 than mine will leave any bench marks on a watch.

Crooked cyclops would require crystal replacement. Rolex has a certain tolerance for the placement of cyclops, so they may deny replacing it under warranty. Most likely a judgement call.

OP could have variety of reasons for wanting to keep the stickers on, perhaps a gift for a family member who will arrive from overseas in a few months, or just wanting to keep one for a son/daughter, etc. He has noticed a cyclope issue and wants to make it perfect and is asking a question. No reason to give him a hard time about stickers.

Thank you everyone, glad I asked before hand. I'll be honest, I am keeping the stickers on just in case it gets discontinued. Still kicking myself for not buying a SD4K with stickers for $8200 just a year ago.

The issue is not too noticeable so I will hold off on sending it to RSC for now.

BLNR. I know, I know, I read all the rumor threads but who knows? If they release a new one like the D-Blue then I'll just wear it.

That's a completely legitimate reason indeed. The idea of 'extra' damage during service is a very real possibility so personally, I'd never send in a new watch unless absolutely necessary.

And, flame if you must, leaving the stickers on is ludicrous. Sure, it might prevent small scratches and abrasions in the short term but after about a week those stickers will start peeling, collecting dirt and sweat resulting in your cherished, shiny and expensive watch looking like hell and draw more attention (the wrong kind) than some tiny scratches. To postpone the inevitable is foolish.

To the OP: if the cyclops is really crooked and it bothers you, send it in and have it repaired. RSC *will* remove the stickers but go ahead and ask anyway - they might accommodate you. Hopefully, they don't create new problems. If it was me, I'd leave it.

Whatever you decide, good luck and let us know what happened.

Mark

So if you're not going to wear it, is it an investment? I can think of better ways to invest the same $.

Rolex speculating, my what a world we live in.

Unfortunately there have been countless threads over the past several years about a watch being sent for minor warranty service and when the watch is returned the person discovers marks on the clasp, bracelet or case somewhere that were not present before the service.

The best thing is to wait until full service is required and have it fixed then when they do a complete polish as part of the service.
