Just dropped by local AD again yesterday and was told by the manger that SD43 is as rare as the SS Daytona. Rolex scarcity marketing is work hard! But I'm thankful to have mine.
I think since there're so few of these 50th Anv Sea Dweller, in the future they might be even worth more than the 50th Anv Submariner, currently their pricing is still very reasonable on the 2nd hand market so get one now if you can |

I wonder if the fact they are are miraculously available at the odd AD might reflect the difference between our World and the real World.
We know about this watch and we know it's rare and we know it's great but the vast majority of people don't have it on their radar. Ask the next ten people you see if they know what a "Sea-Dweller" is. They know Submariners and they know Daytonas and those are the watches that find homes instantly with people who my well bring them in for a battery change the first time they run down the power reserve. The fact that a much more obscure watch like the Sea-Dweller is hard to get at all speaks to it's rarity and the degree to which people who know these things are grabbing them as they appear. |

Canon 70D & EF-S 60mm macro. Funny you should say that because "optically speaking", the 116600 gave me that feeling because the thickness is similar to the 126600 however the latter is more "balanced" thanks to the additional 3mm... Quote:

With the Rolex scarcity marketing, you will not see too many of these SD43 even it's a long run. If you don't have one try to get one. Go back many years, many people here was saying the 50th Anv Sub would go on for years (and this was before production limiting) too but they did stopped and it becomes desirable now.

I was finally able to pick one of these up in March. While my A.D. was fitting it to me, he mentioned it was the second one he had gotten since they were released. He also noted that aside from the Daytona, it was the hardest model to get from Rolex.

I was told the same from mulitple ADs, the watch is introduced in 2017 Basel a year ago, and these ADs told me they have received only a few of these (single digit)! Now with Rolex scarcity game, I don't expect this to change

ps: the main reason i bought it (at list and i get about 15% VAT back) is that the seller promised me a SS daytona before the summer is over...

I was told by my AD he’s received a total of 5 since release. I think the rarity of the SD43 has to be assessed in relation to demand for it. While a popular reference for folks on TRF, the SD43 is likely not as popular to non WIS. Thus you may have betttet luck getting a SD43.

I think this is a good insight. Another factor could be that the SD43 size is not a good fit for Rolex’s primary growth market Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Mine is a flat 6.75 and yes, it’s big but it’s extremely comfortable. Many find (myself included) that it needs the divers extension out and to be worn on the snug side just above the wrist bone - especially those with smaller wrists. It may also take a few days to acclimatise Good luck on Friday Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Seadwellers have never been and will probably never be all that popular overall.
I have heard from AD that these are coming in less frequently than even black dial Daytonas, but the overall ignorance of the reference and higher retail compared to Submariner leaves them unsold in the case in some circumstances. It is interesting how laser focused the market is right now on specific references. In other words it's seemingly a "scarce" reference that lacks popularity, so that makes it available. It takes two to tango in this game....but popularity beats scarcity. |

The TRF sales section, and elsewhere, is flooded with the new SD, and in many cases they are priced not much more than retail. Fairly easy to get.
ALSO .... when I told my neighborhood AD that I wanted one, I got a call within a week (I ended up passing. Great watch, just too big for my liking.) This is all very different in pricing, availability, and hysteria to the Daytona-C. |

I had to laugh at the "sitting in cases unsold" comment. Maybe it's happened here or there but I have only on rare occasions EVER heard of this watch sitting unsold in a case. If by some miracle it actually makes the case, it's gone pretty much immediately. As someone who's been on over a half dozen lists for this reference I can tell you for sure this has not happened in this part of the world. You seem to have a distaste for this model. I've noticed your other posts. You appear to want to get the rumor out there that somehow Rolex is having trouble unloading Sea Dweller 43's and there is no demand so they barely produce any. Over a year after release I see no evidence of that at all. Still getting $13K+ from the greys and still very rare to see in the wild. I think you may be letting your personal dislike of the SD43 cloud your judgement... |

Never seen any at any AD. Have asked sveral and answer was always something like: very difficult, only had one since the release. Tried one on from a grey dealer in Paris. Wears smaller than you think. Especially compared to a 1166660, feels a lot smaller than just 1 mm.
