You should! I think there’s been three of us after your initial post. It’s a fantastic watch and I’ve really been enjoying mine.

I guess the more people turned off by Rolex opens more spots on the waiting list for me. Lol. It’s frustrating, sure, but for me, I definitely appreciate the watch more after I’ve waited for so long.

This year I’ve managed to plan for, and buy, the watches I wanted including a Rolex for my wife.

Not being able to buy something, Rolex or not, wouldn’t push me into buying something different instead.

I wonder if Rolex has bought shares in Swatch or Richmont etc.

The shortage would be one way to drive your investments!

Over the past year and a half, I’ve purchased two vintage DDs, a 16600, 16660, the Tudor BB GMT (twice, after foolishly selling the first), a GS GMT, PAM973, and Seamaster Pro Diver.

It’s notsomuch that I’m frustrated with the lack of availability of SS Rolex, but more that nothing has excited me enough to get on any lists or jockey for position on any. I haven’t bought a new SS Rolex from an AD since I grabbed my SD 126600 in August of 2017. Basel 2018-2019 offerings didn’t excite me that much (with no disrespect intended to those who were charged up by the new watches those years).

I’m good with what I have happening now.

Last year I sold my Rolex GMT Master which I'd been wearing for the past 9 years and ordered a GMT CHNR. Thinking I'd have a long wait for the new watch I bought this titanium Steinhart Ocean One GMT as a fill in while waiting for the Rolex to arrive. CHNR turned up after after a couple of months, but the problem is I have really got to like the Steinhart and have finally admitted to myself that I prefer it as a daily wearer.

It is a very nicely made watch. I wear mine more than my Rolex watches as well.

I've stopped looking or wanting a Rolex now. Because of the draught, I bought my first Vacheron Constantin and will be getting another one soon. Not looked back since and very happy with it

Have bought two non-Rolex because I decided to broaden my watch interest due to the shortage - both cost half what a Rolex would cost. One of them has become my daily wearer and I have two steel Rolex models permanently in the safe. Rolex are not the onoy game in town. Also I have also not bought a number of watches at all. The money has been spent on things that turned out to be more important than another Rolex and with hindsight I am pleased with the outcome.

The reason it works is because the period of desire for a certain models peaks and then subsides. If you have not bought it during the peak then a more rational thought process takes over and you a freed.

So far I’ve purchased an IWC Ingeneur Chrongraph Sport ref. 380901, and am getting ready to grab a Pelagos LHD.

I’ll go back to Rolex once the madness subsides.

Only other brand I’ve picked up over the last several years has been Seiko. I like Patek and AP as well, but those brands have high demand right now too. Outside those I like A Lange Sohne a lot. Also Blanclain, especially the Fifty Fathoms line and offshoots. Lastly Vacheron. Love Richard Mille but his watches are out of my price range.

Thinking about this while I wait.

But I know enough to know it won’t change my mind about getting the watch I’m waiting for.

Actually, I bought more Rolexes at AD after shortage...

I purchased a ND Sub in January 2018 from a respected grey just as the shortage was taking off. Ironically, this last year (2019) I was able to purchase three Rolexes (DJ41 blue/jubilee, BLNR jubilee, and 116500LN Daytona Black) at my AD.

As crazy as it sounds, I have been given more opportunities after shortage.

In my case, I bought a couple omegas. Speedy pro and a Seamaster. Great watches I never would have bought if Rolex actually had product in the display cases.

You are aware that there is only a shortage or waitlist for those who have no gravitas with their AD.

A rising tide raises all boats.

Before my Daytona became available I bought a JLC DSC, and in many ways it’s a better watch.

Not everyone drops 50k per year at their local AD. If I did, I'd be lamenting my divorce.
