I've had a little scratch on my sub bezel for a few years now and i'm not going to lie . . . it's a bit irritating.

Great thread, but I get exactly how you felt. I was in Philadelphia last week and had my recently returned IWC Big Pilot. So light polish, everything looked new (it is almost a 20 year old watch) and I went into my weekend bag and the shoulder strap knocked by bezel, so there is a nice dent at 12. I was internally going through all the stages of "WTF MAN" to "maybe I could get it fixed?" But, after a drink and thinking about it - it's life. Stuff happens, and they are just watches.

I will live with it, and all the other dents and dings on my watches. They are mini memories, some good, some bad - but each a chapter in the book of my life. I am glad you are living with it - but I just wanted you to know I get it.

I really cannot see the ding. There will be more if your wear the watch so I would just forget about. Attempting to fix each ding or scratch as they happen will really only hurt the watch. Have it polished at the service if you want. I would not even do that. You just lose metal and the scratches come right back from wearing the watch.

Yes it would bother me enough that I would send it to Rolex and get it repaired regardless of the cost.

Something similar happened to the bezel on my SD43 when I had it. Bothered me for a couple of days but I eventually forgot about it...only remembering it when the sun would catch it just right. Even then though it didn't bother me.

Would this bother you, ding on the new blro

Would not bother me. Scratches and nicks become part of the watch’s story and your journey in life with your watch. Gives the watch character and makes it unique to you. Just like life.

Again I ask in this thread, what happens when it gets nicked again by the time you get home with it? Send it off for another couple hundred dollars and a month wait? This is so minuscule and these things are inevitable.

Would it bother me? No, life's too short. And short or long too much time spent worrying about anything like this to a watch, jewelry, a car or boat, it's just not the way I'd spend my time.

Would it bug me? Heck Yes! I'd look at it and have a few choice words and then a smirk and then move on.

You really can't see it without looking for it. It's a beautiful watch.

Banged and battered it's still yours.

Enjoy the fruits of your labor my friend!

If it was there upon the unboxing, then it's warranty-card city, but if it is from your own wear, then enjoy it -- my 114060 is looking very not-new but it is a tool watch made of steel and meant to be in the wild, if there ever was a watch meant for action.

Bother me? yes of course, its an expensive watch with damage. I'd get over it though, worn regularly it'll soon pick up more.

If I got a little cut on my arm that would leave a small scar I wouldn’t be concerned and I figure my arm is more important than my watch.

To be honest a few years back a small ding like that would have really, really bothered me. As I've gotten older and matured I've realized that small things like dings, scratches, etc. don't matter and are rarely obvious to others, even on closer inspection. Life is too short to worry about small things which are inevitable. My advice is to take a deep breath, accept scratches as something which happens in the normal course of wearing a watch, and enjoy it for what it is and not let it take away from the joy that wearing such a beautiful watch is supposed to bring! Just my opinion (which, granted, took me a long time to get to...)

Thanks Not so wise when it took me nearly 4 decades to get to this place of "peace" with scratches, dings, etc. I look back on way too many years of needless heartache over silly things...

Would bother me. Then I’d see how many more dings I get over a few months from enjoying it and realize wear and tear on a watch means it’s been worn as intended and tells a story. Get it scuffed and dinged and enjoy it in good health

Of course it would. I am not saying I'd do anything about it if I did it but I probably would eventually. I get dents in my car fixed...do other people not do that?
