Any good chronographs if you don't love the daytona

And don't want to go the speedmaster route either

The El Primero is another classic that can generally be had at a nice pricepoint used

Nothing beats the Zenith El Primero. So many variations to choose from.

Really, it depends on your budget, but a cornucopia of mechanical chronographs out there. Off the top of my head:

Hamilton Intramatic
Tudor Black Bay Chrono
Tudor Big Block Chrono
Zenith El Primero (dozens and dozens of models to choose from)
IWC Portuguese, Pilot, Portofino, Yacht Club
Breguet Transatlantique
JLC Master Control Chronograph
Breitling Navitimer, Montbrillant, Transocean
Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph
A. Lange & Sohne Datograph
Patek Phillipe Chronograph
Panerai Chronograph
Sinn 103
Tag Heuer Monaco, Carrera, Autavia

Obviously, all the Omegas, but those seem to be out for you. The world is your oyster when it comes to chronographs.

God, I will forever kick myself for getting the 42mm version. That guy is the perfect size. Might as well bite the bullet and trade it in and admit I made the wrong choice.

Speedy or Vacheron white panda dial. Two of the most legible chrono IMHO.

My favorite 3:
  1. Breitling Navitimer B01 43mm on black leather strap, black dial with the white mini dials.
  2. Omega Speedmaster on black leather strap (Sapphire sandwich)
  3. Zenith El Primero

Check out Tag Heuer too. They don't get a lot a love on this forum, but check out their website. The one I really like is 45mm. Too big for me, but the Heuer 1972 Special re-edition Autavia is really nice too.

Thanks guys!!

I like the Zenith El Primero but my head is spinning on which one - is their bracelet better feeling and fitting than the speedmaster bracelet? Didn't love the no micro adjusts on that one...

Also like the Autavia but worry about size.

APs I'm not there yet having not ventured beyond Rolex. Vacheron I love the look but something about it feels more religious or something. Either of these I'd have to trade for and nothing I really want to give up.

The Navitimer is a solid option also but I would like a blue 43mm with white chronos and it only seems to come in blue with black circles for some reason

The Vacheron logo is a Maltese Cross which was associated with a Catholic military order:

On a serious note...

Sinn Fleiger or something like that? That one is nice.

Or an El Primero

IWC makes some nice ones too

Or the Hamilton Chronomatic relaunch or whatever it’s called

IMHO the Zenith El Primero is the best finished watch you can buy under $8K...and so much incredible horological history.
