Collection Transformed Major Upgrades!

Hi All,

I have been a staunch 5 digit supporter for the better part of 10 years! Until recently... I tried on my friendís 114060 and fell in love. The quality and robustness of the bracelet, the bright lume, the shiny ceramic made me fall in love with the 6 digit references so much so that I replaced my 5 digit pieces with their 6 digit counterparts. Please see the transformation below! I am super happy and thoroughly enjoy the upgrades! My fellow TRFers Please tell me do you prefer the 5 digit models or the 6 digit models & why?

Congrats. I've recently become a 6 digit convert. I will never go back now. When you compare a 14060 and 114060 side by side, it becomes very clear. Enjoy your new watches.

The 5-digits weren't too shabby to begin with.

Five. They are perfect and balanced. Six are just awkward in all ways...

Nice upgrade!

I owned a 5 digit SS Sub (before they made the newer model), but if I was going to buy another one today, I would go with the 6 digit.

6 all the way. 5 digit bracelet feels cheap to me and no glidelock. Six digit bracelet is lightyears ahead IMO

I prefer the 6-digit references too, but it's by a narrow margin.
I much prefer the solid bracelets of the 6-digits.

6 digit all the way for me. The bracelets and clasps on 6 digit are miles better than than 5 digit. That being said I still love the brighter color of aluminium bezel on 5 digit GMT which is why I currently own 2 of the 6 digit Rolex and one 16710 Pepsi.
I think it is a trade off here, do you have any particular thing that you really like on the older model to for go the much more superior build quality of the modern day Rolex? There are reasons why some of the older/vintage/transitional models price are significant higher than the current model which are still under production.
I would say go with the one that really "speak" to you. No matter its 5 or 6 digit, any Rolex should last a life time :)

With the exception of my dad's Air King X-serial with a blue dial and an X-serial two tone Datejust, my Rolex's are all six digits. So from looking at my watches you would think I prefer six digits, and I do love them. But darnit, there is something about those five digit sports models. The 5 digit sub is about perfect, as well as a 5 digit Pepsi. Some say the bracelets are not as nice as the 6 digits, and I tend to agree, but who cares. The 5 digits are what I lusted after when I was a few years away from jumping in to the game and they are still magical to me.

So, to recap, I love both the 6 and 5 digits. A lotta words to say about nothing.

I also upgraded from a 5 to a 6, with my 13LB. Truly an upgrade in every way, for my taste! I appreciate the beauty of the 5, but I LOVE the 6!

Since you've owned both I think I'd like to hear more about why you switched over?

For me, 6 digit. 114060

Reason is simple. I'm lazy.

I don't want to take care of it or worry about it and I just want it to work. Plus I hear my bracelet is more comfortable and a better fit, which again is less to worry about.

Congrats, they look great

Started with 6 digit. Adding 5s now. Find the proportions better. 5 digit bracelets not and issue as have ones with SELs. Feel almost as study (other than clasp)

For the sub, I prefer the 6 digit, for the GMT, the 5 digit. I love how I can transform mine from pepsi to coke to LN and back. Add the jubilee bracelet and it's rocking.

You can't g wrong. You described key features of the new generation that make all the difference.
However, it would have been a dream collection "to me" if I could have them all. Old vs new duets.

I did just that years ago. The quality and robustness can't even be compared. Much prefer the toughness and quality of the 6 digit over 5 digit references.
