Does the I series have the vertical brushing? If not then I would pass. If it does then it is a no brainer to make the trade. The diver in CE is so awesome even though I really love Daytonas.

Thanks everyone for the comments! I'm currently negotiating with the seller.

I did it, and never looked back. Don't get me wrong, the black dialed 116520 is a super chic sports watch and does look very good. The ceramic diver, however, is out of this world. The finishing on the ceramic is something else (coming from someone who owned and loved the Omega DSOTM) and the presence of the watch is on a whole other level.

They're two very different animals, and the fact that I own a white 116500 might have made it easier for me to let go of my black 520. That being said, the ce diver is a very special, rare reference which I enjoy immensely.

Good luck!

Thanks a lot for posting that link, very helpful! That is also an amazing picture!

That is a VERY good point and a possible dealbreaker. Just to be clear, the pic i posted before is not the one i'm currently interested in.
I thought all the 15707ce's have the vertically brushed bezel but not all the 15706au's?
I've asked the seller to clarify and depending if its the "right" bezel or not, I might pass...

Will keep this updated...

Thanks!

You and I have shared some watches and I shared your same sentiment when I went to offshores. I had 4 at one point and currently have 1, FC Diver. It's still big on my 7" wrist but I love it and great for summer, beach, etc. I would have went ceramic but I really love yellow. :-)

You will love it, so light and different from any other offshore I owned.

I wouldn't. Keep the Daytona. Its iconic. Far more prestigious and legendary than any AP diver will ever be.

I have a 116520 white dial and its staying with me forever.

Yeah it's funny, I also noticed that. Like you, I am missing a bigger watch and feel I need to fulfil the urge :) Plus I think ceramic is awesome.

I see where you are coming from, however, I'm not a collector and get bored easily...

Thanks and awesome pic!
I'm already swayed, but as it turns out, the one I was looking at did not have the vertically brushed bezel, so that's a dealbreaker for me.

Now I have to find another

Do you have photo? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a CE without a brushed bezel.

Never really realized what a difference the brushing makes until seeing one without it.

Hi - just curious what range your serial is? i know there's been discussion on whether the serials are indeed incremental... I have an I-serial, 04xx. and it has vertical brushing

thanks; i wasnt aware that the CE diver spanned both H and I series; I thought, given its limited production run of around a year or so, that it was only produced for I.

Pete - can you confirm whether your 15707.ce is indeed an H?

Also, does anyone know if the serialization "resets" back to 0 with each new letter series (in a similar manner to Panerai, for instance)

It really is an amazing watch. About the only piece I would consider switching my APD for

This question has no right answer.. if you trade, you’ll miss the Daytona. If you make the trade you’ll love the Ap. I’m not being snide, but rather , being honest. Those watches are both such amazing pieces, that you’d love both on any given day. The main question is about scratches, and your lifestyle. How tolerant are you about scratches... will you scratch the piece. The Daytona is a piece you can wear anywhere without worry . The bracelet might scratch . They’re both absolutely beautiful pieces. Everyone claims the AP scratches easily. I wear my AP everyday but I have a rubber strap.

Ceramic AP scratches easily? If scratches are a concern the Daytona is not the answer.

Update to this thread:

I sold the Daytona and just found a great deal on a diver (finally) took a while but definitely worth the wait!
