2022 April Daytona ?

Heard this from a local dealer

“SS Daytona (references 116500ln) will be discontinue this April at Watches & Wonder as an first part update of the whole Daytona line.

126500ln featuring a 42mm circumference and different inner chronometer circle design, upgraded easy-link mechanism, MSRP will increase 10-13%.

John Mayer Daytona(reference 116508) and the other gold Daytonas will be update next year at 2023, and three 60th anniversary Daytona models will be release.”

Now I love that white dial. But 42mm?? UGGGHHH

Looks like a poor Photochop, though.

42mm is a little too big for me. I will skip.

Strange my AD told me they remain they same but will make the Daytona an annual calendar, my AD in Switzerland he regularly goes to Hans Waldorfs grave and has a chat with him time to time. So id take his word more credible than yours, also I hear Rolex executives always visit Hans before they make a decision thats how secretive Rolex is.

I believe if they wanted to update the Daytona the first release would be in PM, before unveiling the SS variant. And at max it would be 41mm that wears like an actual 40 rather than a 42… but that’s just my pov.

I am waiting for the black dial SS. If they are the exact same, they both came, I would get the 40. It is a refined piece and I would only wear on occasions especially with the PCL. That being said, if my AD could only get me the 42, would take that as well.

if its for maintaining aesthetic balance, why not the same design on PM pieces like the platona?

They used to do that but the submariner upgrade may be a sign that from now on they will just update the whole line. Which makes more sense tbh

I can't see them taking the Daytona up to 42mm. It would narrow the target audience.

But that would mean that the meteorite Daytona would only be a one year reference? Oh god please no!

I don’t know. We will have to wait until W&W to see…. Personally I like the Daytona as it is. My personal hope is that Rolex re-introduce the Jean Claude Killy. Come on Rolex - MAKE COMPLICATIONS GREAT AGAIN!

I think Rolex will touch Daytona this year since they keep posting Daytona related in Instagram.
Especially the two tone…
We will see…

The asymmetry has nothing to do with the size of the case…

It was originally. Nowadays is only a leftover for steel, TT and YG cases; WG, RG and Pt cases are completely symmetrical and they are this way from the start.

You are all wrong. My aunt is the cleaning lady at Rolex. When she goes in there at night there are still drawings and prototypes of next years watches out in the design department. I get all of my intel from her.

Just a couple of observations that may render this photoshop JPG (cue 5 year old with software) fake news.

1. Rolex hasn’t ever released a new SS Daytona without first releasing a PM version.
2. 42 mm would alienate the female following for which this specific watch is very successful.

You say this every time the Daytona is mentioned. It will never happen, no need for it. When Rolex borrowed Zenith ebauches for the 16520 they could have kept its rate but instead slowed it down along with other changes. I will apologize profusely if I’m wrong but there is simply no need to.
